Living with an alcohol - General

Hello FP I've searched the thread's nothing on this so why not i make one My father is a heavy alcoholic, he drinks every day and with him there's always an excuse that follows. He has 2 personality's now, a nice sober guy who cracks a couple of jokes and the mentally unstable drunk. From the countless number of times hes told me stories about his childhood it seems that's were the problem is. The number of times hes repeated the same shit is unreal i could write a novel on him lol. As a boy he was given the responsibility to put food on the table for a family of 5 while his father layed on his ass drinking whiskey, my grandpa made my grandma sell herself (prostitute). My father killed his dad because of that. I never met my grandpa but i think he caused my dad to be how he is today. He is an abusive drunk as-well, sometimes it gets pretty bad i never thought id have to hit my father and break his nose but all those years i sat by doing nothing while my mom got beat i blacked out and just remember me on top of him with his blood all over my face. Growing up with a father like that caused me to hate him. I only love him because well because he is my father but other than that we have little to no good experiences together. My mom tried to kill herself back when I 9, i remeber walking into my parents room seeing her on the bed bleeding to death and smelling the pool of blood that stained the blue carpet she had. (blood kinda smells like metal in a way) Both my siblings who are older than me ran away because they couldnt deal with it anymore leaving a little boy to grow up with this. I know this isnt bad compaired to what other kids have to grow up in but it completely changed me. Ive started to notice i am treating my girlfriend like shit recently i hope i don't turn out like my dad. one thing my dad told me when he was drunk that ill always remember "why do you stick up for her, your the one who looks like a moron when shes by my side tomorrow" my mom still loves him, i have no idea why. We own a family construction business so often he brings his problems from work home with him and unleashes his rage on my mother and I. when i was 16 he wanted to fight me. he used to be a boxer and was awarded the golden gloves from his hometown so i was pretty sure id lose, he had a knife in his hand and his fist up so today my father comes home drunk saying what the fuck were you doing why weren't you helping your brother, i really didn't want to go to work today so i made up some bullshit excuse about school. he then proceeds to insult me, Ive grown to not care i just look at him and what he says goes in one ear and comes out the other. my mom was cleaning the foyer and he goes up to her complaining about he only has 20 dollars in his pocket and rips up all his money then he spits on her. that doesn't fly with me but of course my better judgement kicks in and as i wrapped my arms around him i felt like crushing his rib cage, i just told him to go to sleep. then he turns his anger to me saying "your a piece of shit" "i have a son who hit me". it hurts me when he says that but i just let him say it because i don't want to start a fight. he started to talk about my girlfriend, i think he tries to say shit to get me mad, taunting me in a way. he starts to cry because of when i hit him, Ive seen this a million and one times before so i don't care but after that he calmed down. last thing he told me was "last time you hit me it felt like a part of me died but this time i wont let it happen, ill kill you like i killed my father i don't care if i go to prison" today wasn't that bad of a day So any FP'ers out there who go through the same thing? rate me dumb
