A Republican state lawmaker said Thursday that women who become pregnant from sexual assault should not be exempt from an anti-abortion measure, because childbirth resulting from rape is "beautiful."
"Obviously rape is awful," West Virginia Del. Brian Kurcaba (R) said during a committee hearing on a new abortion restriction, according to David Gutman, a Charleston Gazette reporter. "What is beautiful is the child that could come from this."
Kurcaba, a financial adviser, was elected to the House of Delegates in November.
The bill would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. State House Republicans revived the proposal after West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D) vetoed it in 2014. The House Health Committee voted down an exception for rape and incest victims on Thursday and approved the bill for a full vote in the House.
Kurcada's comment about rape and abortion is similar to an argument made by U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock of Indiana in October 2012. "I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen," Mourdock said in a debate.
Republican. 'Nuff said.

Idiotic comments about rape are a proud party tradition.
The War on Cervixes continues. It's always Republican men, too.
Sanctimonious assholes.
And then the kid comes out and is literally the ugliest fucking kid you've ever seen in your entire life.
These guys have a worldview closer to that of Saudi Arabia than that of any civilized country.

Yeah, I agree, when a woman who for example is already financially strained gets raped, she should totally have a baby from the man who raped her as a constant reminder that it happened, and on top of it a baby who she'd never be able to afford the proper care for.
How stupid can you get?
Imagine being a rape apologist.
"If soldiers didn't rape conquered peoples in ancient times, today's population wouldn't be as genetically diverse as it is today. No really, science is on our side this time guys, so you liberals can stick it!"

It's already there! Hah.

I'm not defending this because it doesn't deserve defending, but adoption is still a thing.

It's there already, Vol 9
this seriously sounds like some "ends justify the means" supervillain level shit
Rape apologists like this guy probably don't have a working asshole, so they just spew shit out their mouths instead.
This is the only possible explanation I can think of.

That and decades-old sexism under the guise of "family values"
"What is beautiful is the child that could come from this."
Yes, what's beautiful is a child that was conceived by force, whose father is a criminal and grows up with their mother either never telling them (in addition to the mental anguish she's already facing) or them finding out at a later age they were the product of a violent sex offense.
Wait.
There's this thing called not wanting to have fucking kids and be responsible.
Especially at a young age. Good luck with that. The mentality of being an asshole, I mean. Brian, you are an idiot.
It scares me that people actually vote these morons in and support them...

Reading these makes my brain feel like it's going to explode.
threads like these make me remember the several facepunchers that claim republicans and democrats are just as bad. :downs:

How would you know, are you a product of this?

Is anyone here a product of rape? How is your relationship with your mom?
I'm not defending this because it doesn't deserve defending, but adoption is still a thing.
So a women who was just raped should just go through what could be a life ending or threatening procedure like child birth because adoption centers exist? A women should have to pay for the medical care and treatment of a child birth as well? How about the 9 months of carrying a person inside you? A nice 9 month reminder to make sure they never forget their rape baby.
Jesus fuck think before you post.
Jesus Christ. I am republican but holy fuck this guy is literally retarded.
If you have a child from rape, abortion should absolutely be an option
That child would receive 0 care from the mother as it would remind her of the traumatic experience.
abortion or adoption in this case are the best options.
My fucking party needs to wise up
Just another one to add to the chart
I wish everyone on this chart had been aborted, holy fuck they're so ass backwards.
How the fuck are people like this in power? they should be in the psyc ward not the fucking senate, although nowadays there's not much difference. But how the fuck are we supposed to go forward as a race for a better way of life when twats like this get to make the rules?
I can see what he means in a really roundabout way ("even in something so terrible, something beautiful can happen"), but that's still ridiculously retarded.

Neither one is better than the other, Republican's have good people, democrat's have good people. Why either of them have people at all floors me, but to lump them into groups can just cause fucking chaos. I've burnt myself many times on that.
Imagine being like a kid or hell even adult and knowing you were born out of rape, it just doesn't feel fair on either involved.
I honestly imagine something like that would cause a lot of mental anguish.

Both sides have very vocal idiots, the democrats however tend to be a bit more heavy handed when someone says something so completely moronic, so there is consequences for being stupid
The republicans though celebrate stupidity and give people like ted cruize and Ivanhoe positions overseeing the very thing they are complete idiots about
Republican. 'Nuff said.

That way of thinking is extremely ignorant. More so than the article.
