• I'm not connected to the internet ... but here I am - What? Strange, need help!

I'm as confused as the title is itself. For the past week my internet has been playing up. One day I noticed the little icon at the bottom right corner on my task-bar which indicates whether or not I'm connected to the internet has a red "x" over it. Obviously this indicates that I'm not connected to the internet. But funny thing is ... I am connected ... proof is, well here I am writing up this thread. But this is only the surface of issues regarding this issue. I frequently lose connection to the internet. This started happening when this strange occurrence of the "x" over my icon began. Which means I cannot trust that icon anymore, seeing as sometimes I won't be connected, making it correct and vice versa. Just today, I lost connection a few times until the most recent time. I lost connection for a long time. I could not visit any web pages, no connection to steam, no connection to uplay, computer itself clearly indicated I had no internet connection ... but I had connection to mumble. I could text chat on mumble just fine, send and receive messages. So I lost connection to everything net related ... but mumble prevailed?I was clearly connected and disconnected at the same time. Can anyone find a solution to this? I have an idea but it's very unlikely. I recently purchased a bluetooth adapter for my desktop. Ever since I installed it and restarted my computer, this has been happening. I have since uninstalled that damn thing but this issue prevails. Everyone else in my house has no issues what so ever with internet connection. I am the only one connected via Ethernet cable if that matters.
The icon in the system tray determines if you're connected by pinging Microsoft's servers or something. Try using System Restore and restoring to a point before you installed the bluetooth dongle's drivers.
Coincidentally, I've tried exactly that not so long ago, literally about 10minutes ago. I can only go far back as 27th March 2013, I purchased the dongle on the 22nd. Well the list it shows allows me to only go as far back as the 27th. If there is another way of picking the date, it would be greatly appreciated. I tick the "Show more restore points" but nothing happens.
