Henry Tattersall feared he would not get any Christmas presents after he mistakenly downloaded £420 worth of X Box games, an inquest was told. Minutes before his death, the teen told his girlfriend on Facebook, "I’m going to kill myself", before hanging himself from his bed. And during the same online conversation, the couple had discussed the death of Henry's friend, 13-year-old Declan Gattenby, who was found hanged in his bedroom, in Stacksteads, Lancs, last July. Thats one dank bill.
Sounds like he paid a high price for his mistake.
This was one smart kid. Sure had his priorities straight.
Those are some serious mental health issues :(
"I am not getting any christmas presents this year, better kill myself"
feared he would not get any Christmas presents
I think there were more things to worry about than this
He must have blazed alot of games.
It sounds like he had been pretty depressed after his friend hanged himself and the bill was just the final push he needed. Killing himself in the exact same way is a pretty big indication of that.
It wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest that he might have feared his parents reaction, more than the fear of not getting any presents.
I weep for the grim reality that a kid was this afraid of not getting material objects for Christmas that he took his own precious life. Let alone that he did in the same way as his friend and even after discussing it with his girlfriend. Now that girl is going to be mentality screwed for quite a while and his parents are going to have to come to terms with the fact that he killed himself because of the punishment he thought he would get for being frivolous with money. I'm gonna take a guess and say there is more than meets the eye with this story; ofcourse. This is just another reason I hate what money can do to people, but I don't think this was caused by money alone.
Considering he had a worry about not getting any christmas presents, theres probably a lot of underlying problems here
The Christmas presents was probably just a thing he mentioned in chat, an example of the avalanche of consequences he thought up in shock.
The court heard that Henry, who suffered from ADHD, had a "vast" range of behavioural problems which worsened when he moved from primary to secondary school. Eve said her son had "extreme reactions" to change but was fearless and once even climbed the school roof, the Manchester Evening News reports.
This seems relevant.
Yeah I'm getting a feeling that the Xbox games and the Christmas presents ain't his #1 reason for killing himself.
GAMING IS KILLING OUR KIDS
I dont even know what to say about this
"I am not getting any christmas presents this year, better kill myself"
This is the peak of mental health iceberg.. it probably went much, much deeper.
GAMING IS KILLING OUR KIDS
I miss Jack Thompson
I miss Jack Thompson
He's just waiting for the next Manhunt game. I still remember when he got disbarred

I'm sure the mom is heartbroken but it sounds like she's well aware of the mental issues he was dealing with. She's an adult too, so she should be able to handle this. The sister and gf, being so young, are really going to struggle though.
Money in a nutshell.
ADHD can throw you into crippling depression at any moment and make you do some really stupid shit. Source: I've been there and gotten the T-shirt.
He sure wasnt in any high state of consciousness doing such a silly, silly thing.
This was one smart kid. Sure had his priorities straight.
How about we don't criticize him for killing himself. Kind of low.
How about we don't criticize him for killing himself. Kind of low.
these kind of threads tend to filter out people who understand jackshit about mental health issues
Wait, "bill"? They actually sent him a piece of paper asking him for money? Why not just hit the card immediately on purchase like every fucking online thing ever?
oh i'm stupid i forgot those exist, i assumed it was a bank issued card that took the money right out of the bank account
She said the teen had been "genuinely stunned" and told his mum to take the money out of his savings account.
There is nothing unusual about that. As to the second part of the quote, :(

TBH it really sounded like the kid had an assload of underlying behavioral and personality problems judging from the article. Sad that he'd choose to do this but not as surprising considering what his temperament was leading up to it.
