• Windows 7 Hangs at "Starting Windows"

Hey guys. So earlier today I tried shutting down my computer, and it didn't quite work. It displayed that "AMD CCC Viewer" stopped responding, and it kept Windows from shutting down properly. I hit the power button to force a shutdown, and later when I tried starting it again, it hung at the "Starting Windows" screen with the fireflies that turn into the Windows Logo. I've tried so many things to fix it, but it's not working. It at least can boot into Safe Mode, but from there, the Startup menu, and the Advanced Boot Options menu, I've... -Done 4 System Restores -Done 5 Startup Repairs (followed by a restart each time) -Tried using last effective startup settings 2 times -Disabled, then Uninstalled my AMD Drivers (I thought this was the reason for the failures at startup, but apparently not) -Cleared everything in my Startup registry -Cleared the CMOS (followed by a restart) -Unplugged the computer for 30 minutes and restarted it -Created and used a System Repair Disc. And numerous other things that aren't coming to mind right now. What can I do? I don't want to resort to a full reinstall of Windows, but it's looking like it might have to be that way..
This could possibly be a harddrive problem, but some kind of software problem sounds more plausible.
I doubt it's a hard drive problem, because the computer works just fine in Safe Mode. I don't think anything is wrong with the RAM or the Hard Drive. I'm just curious why it won't fix itself after a system restore if it's a software problem, let alone 4 system restores.
Yeah. Hm. Try unplugging everything except keyboard/mouse/monitor. Maybe something's conflicting with windows so it can't start for whatever reason?
I just tried using a System Repair Disc, it didn't work, either. I'm at the end of my rope with this computer, it's really starting to piss me off. Please, does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to have to go somewhere to get this thing repaired.
I guess you should try reinstalling windows...
I guess you should try reinstalling windows...
I really don't want to do that unless I have to. I've neglected backing up some stuff on here, and my Dropbox isn't big enough to hold everything I want to save.

If you're not able to do that, take out the harddrive completely, put it in an external HDD case (if you have one) or buy one of those HDD backup tools (either a dock or just a small USB adapter that takes SATA input, powered by an external adapter) and copy the files over to another PC that way.
There was nothing really important on that computer, just a crapload of games I'm not looking forward to reinstalling, as well as the fact that I have no money with which to buy a 1 TB External drive. I reformatted the comp and it's working fine.
Oh. Well anyway, this is why I never put important stuff on the C: drive
