Holy shit look at that handling, it's like it actually made use of the physics engine
I want that in GTA V, fuck the graphics

I drive a car regularly, and GTA:IV's handling feels nothing like what I feel when I'm actually driving. GTA:V is closer, but still not quite right.
Cars are not soap, roads are not ice.
I love when new versions of iCEnhancer are released, the videos are always a good watch

"Driving a boat on land" is still the best description for it.

Usually people tend to drive cars regularly, you're not really special in that regard :v:
To be honest I can't say GTA V is close to that at all, and neither is GTA IV. It's more about utilization of the physics engine and not making every car a toy.
Honestly GTA IV's handling was really great if you actually took the effort to master it, GTA V's is like eh. Gets the job done but there's no satisfaction out of it. I think a lot of the favor towards V's handling is due to it being casualized, and due to the hype - it makes people excited for any aspect of the game, and less prone to objective criticism.
Both IV and V have aspects about their car handling that are realistic and not. Neither of them do it quite right, but neither of them get wrong the same aspects of it.

I'm not looking for realism in either game, I like the driving in both. Some people found the GTA IV driving to be too slippery, like you're always driving on ice (I can totally see that, I didn't like it much at first but got used to it quickly and learned to like it a lot). V was a good balance of the SD universe driving and IV's driving.
I'm sure we'll be able to edit the handling file in V like you could in IV.
I didn't really enjoy driving in GTAV as much as GTAIV. GTAIV's driving was more physics based and it was a lot of fun to drive once you became a drift master and learned how to shift your weight on a motorcycle
Not liking the daytime sky

I've only played a couple hours of 5, but its handling seemed closer to SA's than 4's, in that the cars barely felt like they had weight. Honestly I preferred Mafia 2's to either, driving under pressure was actually a challenge especially in the snow. Especially in the snow.
No matter how hard I try to enjoy driving in V, I just can't. Realistic or not IV was way more fun, I love doing the street races in anything from Peotes to Infernuses. The cars feel heavy and satisfying, love the playful suspensions.
Yeah, it was much more fun when the 9 year olds that plagued the game couldn't get around by holding the right trigger down and never letting go. In IV you would have to be conscious about your braking and acceleration which I liked. Cars in real life are heavy and if you take all that forward momentum and then suddenly turn left, hell yeah you better expect to slide and skid out. I can take a left turn going 80mph in V and be fine
A lot of the details on the world don't reflect on the car, but honestly I only noticed it because of the video.

Good way to sum it up imo. Heavy vehicles, particularly those with the center of gravity placed higher felt great in GTA IV, almost handling somewhat realistically. As an SUV driver myself it just felt right for reasons that are hard to convey in words. On the other hand I felt like the smaller cars were too exaggerated in how they drifted and flipped though. You basically had to be in an Infernus or Coquette to take corners with any kind of speed.
I like GTAV's handling. It doesn't have the nuance of GTA IV but basically every vehicle is fun to drive and there is never a point where I'm looking at a long drive from the county back to Los Santos and saying "ugh" at car choices based on handling.

Unfortunately, there were missions where you were supposed to keep up with people and shoot them.
Boats with wheels and shooting at speeds don't mix, and that's always been my problem with GTAIV's handling. I'm okay with GTAV's because there's a lot fewer ways to fuck yourself up. You speed around a corner? You're not going to flip your car like you would in GTAIV. You somehow do manage to flip yourself? Just right yourself by moving the stick. Concerned that ramp you just had to jump is about to flip you over? Fix yourself mid-air.
The only problems I've ever heard anyone having with GTAV's driving is the way it "feels," whereas I just have total control issues with IV and I'd rather not have to retry a mission with checkpoints that are spaced too far out five times because I didn't drive around corners at 2 mph or because there's a ramp I've gotta hit just right, etc.

That, coupled with 10-minute long drives in the start of missions and no checkpoints made me ragequit the story.

If you were playing with a controller I can understand, shooting from vehicles in IV was awkward as fuck with them, but if you were using m+kb you must be some kind of scrublord. I suppose it's in the name of accessibility though, but I find it much more satisfying doing anything fancy in a vehicle when the risk of failure is larger, rather than giving you lots of opportunity to unfuck yourself after you've made a grave mistake. Anyway, once V's out on PC there will likely be handling mods to revert it to IV style. Hopefully.

Or the shit port, slidy handling, and worthless popguns made it awful.
How the hell is this news, the video is a month old.
As for the handling, I feel 4's is more realistic in my opinion. I think people drive too fast in 4 and wonder why they are understeering in their cheap as vehicle. You're handling better IRL in your car probably because you're going significantly slower.
Though I will say that sports cars handle just as badly as those boat SUV's and shitty sedans, which does bug me. They wobble and skid just as much.
i always found IV's handling to be more engaging. V's is like holding accelerate and steering in a general direction and never crashing ever as a result
[editline]16th February 2015[/editline]
i don't think realisitic is the correct word for IV's handling but it's closer than V's for sure
IV made it feel like every car had slinkies for shocks.

Dont forget they handle like dumpsters filled with lead
