Any credit he had as designer has long since burned, I don't even know why people listen to this guy.
Molyneux insists that he will personally vet and refine every idea that goes into the game from now on, even while work begins at 22cans on a new mobile project, The Trail.
I can personally vet that Molyneux is a pathological liar and a snake oil salesman.
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
Well, given that he's been in the industry for so long, he can't duck questions like newcomers can.
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
Doesn't make lying then apologizing later because 'oops' all right.
I can personally vet that Molyneux is a pathological liar and a snake oil salesman.
He promises a lot and has a habit of spouting hyperbole and being overly theatrical, I recall one interview were he broke down and cried over not meeting his own expectations as a developer. He does however know when he goes wrong like with this and Fable III which he is quoted as being ashamed of.
He's surprised that a click-fest that is Godus isn't what people wanted? People wanted Populous last I checked.
Molyneux has always talked big with promises. He talks big and then realizes he can't put in what he wants. His creditablity has always been shit ever since the original Fable with the stupid "YOU CAN SEE PLANTS GROW, YOU CAN GO HERE, THIS THING AFFECTS YOUR ADULTHOOD", etc.

He wanted to make a free2play mobile cow clicker and knew he would never get the crowdfunding for that so he promised an awesome PC game that would be the spiritual sequel to Populous and then let it die to focus on the shitty free2play mobile cow clicker.
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
it doesnt mean much if you admit them over and over, but do nothing to improve
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
noooooo stop, this is exactly what he wants you to say
That one guy who got to the center of curiosity must be pretty mad right now.
“I made some horrendous mistakes." The only horrendous mistake was giving him more of your money.
Big fucking surprise. He does this EVERY single. Then tries to act so sincere. I actually thought maybe he was turning around with this new game company. Ha. Fucking liar.
His last highlight of his career imo was 10 years ago in 2005 with Black and White 2 and The Movies, both games i played for countless hours. What happened to you Peter, you used to release incredible games one after the other and then after Fable 2 you just hit rock bottom. But his lying started all the way back to Fable 1, some of Fable 1's features that he promised us was to be included (1 year prior game release...) - The biggest one is a dynamic appearance; your character was supposed to atrophy with lack of exercise, get pumped with lifting and fighting (note: the video clip for the strength stat) tan in the sun and pale in the moonlight. - The "stress" feature was interesting factor in the early stages of the game which affected how quickly your character aged.- Being in prison was more than a once-in-a-story thing. You would end up in prison for committing crimes, at one point. - In the initial design, anybody's clothing (read: anybody's) could be yours. If you saw it, you could have it. - Family development. - Groupies, who would cheer you on and what not. - Multiple guilds. - Children existed in more places than one. - Multiplayer. At first this was going to be splitscreen, in a similar manner to Fable 2's but for four players, and then it was changed to a really strange setup, where only one player would be active at a time and the other players were like "spirits" that floated around and assisted. - There were some weird elements that were going to try to force you to follow the story by killing your entire family if you decided not to do the main quest for too long a period. - There was excitement, for a time, when it was said that you could kill a child's family and spare the child himself, and years later he would come back seeking revenge. - Ability to sort of "overthrow" the mayor of a town and assume mayorship for yourself.

So instead of focusing on creating a good, fulfilling game, he wanted to make one that tops his previous ones and focused too much on that.
Let's remember this piece of vaporware from E3 2009: As he's gotten older, his ability to dream has gotten bigger and his ability to deliver has fallen off a cliff. RIP Peter "Ideas Guy" Molyneux

He promised that in the end, all players are in one massive server where everyone has a bit of land and you can develop from there. You start with a few buildings and in the end you have an entire civilization spanning across multiple lands and whatnot. Basically Populous 3 but in some MMO form, which nearly made me fund the kickstarter for 70 euro.
This is why in game development, you keep all the hype to yourself as a game developer and you let your gameplay footage speak for itself.
This is why in game development, you keep all the hype to yourself as a game developer and you let your gameplay footage speak for itself.
Nothing wrong with warming up your audience with teasers and telling them what's to come, as long as you do it small portions and with the actual fact that you can keep up to your promises.
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
Then again Peter always promises the world and then goes all apologetic and whiny
Molyneux is a joke of a developer. Isn't this the same game that was so hyped up with that mysterious cube thing? And then the guy who won it could be part of this game or something? Anyway, this guy haven't made any good games. Why is he even relevant?
Honestly imo if he ever could retribute himself, it would be through releasing a solid Black and White sequel - in the unique, peculiar spirit of the first one.

Basically Fable I was supposed to be the shit but all we got was a fairly decent game.
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
thing is he has pretty much done this over and over. he needs to have someone else manage press interaction and more people keeping him grounded with what is realistic and not.
ha ha classic molyneux what will he give us next an artist from 22cans just got a job as a tutor at my university, I bet he's glad he jumped ship
Takes guts to at least admit you fucked up, unlike some other developers or designers who've been funded through kickstarter...
all molyneux has done in his career outside of black and white 1 is admit that he's fucked up his life now reads like a eulogy to fucking up
