What could another motherboard do for you?
What could another motherboard do for you?
Give more sustainability and Over-clocking features
It might be your CPU limiting your overclocking, really. Somebody explained that too, that the ones on the side of the CPU wafer do not OC that well as the ones on the middle.

But if you want a beter looking one. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-z68-extreme7-gen3-intel-z68-s-1155-ddr3-sata-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-%28x16%29-d-sub-dp-hdmi-dvi-
Get the Gigabyte Z68-UD5H then.
Why did you rate me dumb. Besides the fact Gigabyte boards are kinda shitty anyway. Although it could just be your chip. Goz3rr explained this in another thread.
The chips are produced on circular wafers: [t]http://moeadham.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/45nm_wafer_photo_12.jpg[/t] The one's closest to the center will produce the least amount of heat, and will be able to be overclocked further.
And since it was in a thread that you made, you should know this. http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=33769554#post33769554 I belive i retain the right to assume that you have not changed your build. Take our advice, we have already answered your question, instead of making another thread.
Why did you rate me dumb.
Because Z68 boards are better than P67 in most scenarios
Really. All it adds is; 1. Integrated graphics support 2. Use of Quicksync for video transcoding 3. SSD Caching (using and SDD as a cache for an HDD) Otherwise, its the same as P67
.... You just said, it adds features. Generally for a minimal price difference, too.
could you explain at all
I used an Intel Core i5 2500K from my friend that he had only recently just bought and that still only got to 4.4 ghz, stable, which i know for fact i should be able to get more bang for buck than that.
Did the chip go faster than that in his board?
Yep, 4.9 ghz stable in his board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271 Problem solved best z68 motherboard I can find. [editline]9th January 2012[/editline] Nvm you're in the UK, No matter Asrock z68 extreme4 gen3 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-z68-extreme4-gen3-intel-z68-s-1155-ddr3-sata-6gb-s-raid-sata-pcie-30-(x16)-graphics-on-board- And if you feel the need to spend a retarded ammount of money on a board here are these 2 but seriously it will do.
