I really wish people would stop using piracy as an excuse for poor sales.
It said sites like Google and Microsoft's Bing were "significantly" impeding the entertainment industry in the UK.
They're causing the problems themselves by giving a shit service for a shit price.
So what they're after is people to cut the middleman so to speak and just go straight to wherever they usually download their stuff from.
BBC Technology stock images strikes again: These days, in 2012, I always search for YOUTUBE via internet explorer on my windows 98 PC whilst looking through glasses (which I make sure to hold close to the screen)
it also implies that youtube is one of the 'illegal sites' shown in google results
So if my file hosting site has content which is indiscriminately uploaded to it (some illegal) I get my ranking lowered Sounds fair (what are those jackasses thinking)
This is a good idea, it would probably work for a little.
The economy is down, everyone is stressed. Just watch everyone stop worrying when it goes back up.

Seeing as this is a service based economy maybe people should focus on being good companies and provide a solid service for a fair price instead of bitching and crying.
Hah, so they want to break Google's promotion system to make more money, when it's obvious that the system is working perfectly and everybody would sooner pirate a movie than pay to watch it?
If things start to get "demoted", suppose if someone took advantage of that and misleadingly suggested a competitor website to be committing piracy as a lie? This isn't going to work out if this were to happen.
Stop trying to fuck with the Internet If you're having problems with making money, don't blame the Internet and illegal file sharing, blame you're own shitty practices and failure to keep up with advancing technology.
