Adobe prematurely launched Adobe Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2 in several worldwide stores this evening, but the app has since been pulled.
Adobe first announced the product back in October, 2011 alongside 5 other upcoming tablet applications. Adobe Photoshop Touch is described as a tool to "let you quickly combine images, apply professional effects, share the results with friends and family through social networking sites like Facebook, and more".
Features listed include:
- Use popular Photoshop features designed for the tablet such as layers, selection tools, adjustments, and filters to create mind-blowing images.
- Use your iPad camera to fill an area on a layer with the unique camera fill feature.
- Select part of an image to extract by scribbling with the Scribble Selection tool. With Refine Edge, use your fingertip to capture even hard-to-select image elements, like hair, with ease.
- Search and acquire images with the integrated Google Image Search.
- Share images on Facebook and view comments right within the app.
- Browse an inspirational gallery for the styles and results you'd like to achieve. Then follow step-by-step tutorials to easily learn techniques the pros use for great-looking results.
- Use AirPrint for wireless printing of Photoshop Touch projects.
- Upload projects to Adobe Creative Cloud* and open layered files from Adobe Photoshop Touch in Photoshop CS5.
- Maximum image resolution: 1600 x 1600 pixels
The launch is believed to have been a mistake and is expected to officially launch on Monday for $9.99 in the U.S. It will be compatible with the iPad 2 only. We've included the full set of screenshots.

I cringe at the thought of Facebook profile photos after this
lol android had this last year
Making a $200 computer program for a tablet device.
How much will that cost exactly?

The fact that tablets and laptops are separate is pretty dumb imo. Good thing Windows 8 will bring in hybrids.

The app itself will cost 9.99 USD, unless I'm stupid and you're talking about the software development cost. Shrug.
Edit:
I wonder how people will explain their obviously-shopped photographs.
"Hey, cool photo of you in the Bahamas, mate. When did you go?"
"Last week, it was great!"
"...Er, I saw you in McDonald's last Tuesday."
"... fuck."
Interesting to see Photoshop being launched on a tablet, though it's so heavily stripped down that it's hard to see the resemblance anymore.
Also, stuff like this:

Ah well, there's no harm in an app like this existing so more power to them.

read the article, they sometimes have information in them

I was being sarcastic, I really don't see how you take such an advanced program (expensive at that) and make it operatable on a device with 1/3 the power of the average computer. Without losing the award-winning features and capabilities.
Should be free for liscenced users of the desktop version imo. I mean those people already had to pay out the butt for it, so they'd still have a huge profit margin just giving them this $10 mobile version.

If someone can afford paying out of the ass for Photoshop, they generally have a job that makes them a decent amount of money, so $10 isn't a problem to them.

Lol, iPad 2 only.

iWork was like 80 bucks for the OS X version and the iOS is only 15
My illustration professor at uni was given a free galaxy tab by Adobe and also given the beta version of this app, he pretty much said it was total crap. Dunno about the final version though.

Didn't you know?
the iPhone 4 is too underpowered for Siri, and the iPad 1 is too underpowered for Photoshop.
I guess you should give Apple more of your money.
When $199 software is down to only $10 on the tablet, then you can be sure that it has no practical use.

Same ol' use, Teenage girls "correcting" their bodies.

some people buy photoshop for their job; that doesn't necessarily mean they can afford to buy it more than once very easily
[editline]27th February 2012[/editline]
then again people who use photoshop for their job wouldn't use it on an ipad
Must be some pretty powerful software to photoshop his face like that.
A touch screen can never match the power of a real tablet. :colbert:

Terrible joke. Because a lot of devices are apparently capable of Siri.
iPad 1 is probably capable for Photoshop too.

The devs/apple don't seem to think so.
I bet it was not accidental at all, but intentional so it would gain more publicity
Which is good for them I guess
