Clearly these fixes weren't necessary a few years ago, when the game was popular.
So this entire update is literally blocking exploits and areas you shouldn't be able to access.
Geez.
Dead Center:
The Hotel:
- Made dropping between the top two floors much more difficult.
how long has the game been out
[editline]balls[/editline]
-The forklift near the entrance to the building leading to the silly slide has been removed.
wow
i liked that forklift
rip pro tank 1 shots
These are minor fixes that don't really affect the game. They weren't really necessary back when the game was more popular.
obligatory who play left 4 dead comment.
Wow. What a waste of effort.
People always say "if valve wanted to change it they would have by now"
L4d3 confirmed
Nice update.
Now THIS.. is a real update, as it has some navigation and blocker fixes that should have been done in the first place
The community finds lots of things, although that Cold Stream isn't fun due to no replayability and all dialogue (like regular custom campaigns have) being scripted (Choreographic scenes that are triggered based on delay and the outputs from other entities)
where the fuck is the next mutation valve GG guys you sure fucked up this time
Game ruined, cant bypass first 2 levels of dead center
Needs a seriously big DLC for L4D2.
I'm talking new dialogue and weapons, continuing the story AS WELL AS this upcoming pack.
Saying it's dead is silly. I know it's not getting Battlefield numbers, but there's still a good number playing whenever I'm on.
no more running along the roof to skip the corn field?
aw poop :c
i'd like to take this post to point out that all the dedicated valve servers are broken. the population has resorted to custom/modded servers which are always loaded with superficial/game-breaking mods.
that is all.
To all of you fuck-wits saying it's dead.

It has more players than Gmod, it's not dead.

Dead Center:
The Hotel:
- Made dropping between the top two floors much more difficult.
NO MERCY:
The Apartments:
-Adjusted player blocker for the corner drop safe-landing at the start to be slightly larger.
-Added blockers to both air conditioning units near the start to prevent survivors from using them to skip the apartments.

These are the only things that made the game fun.
I would love to have a new L4D. The game is just pure fun with buddies. I played it for countless hours screaming at the screen while fighting off hordes or crying while having 1 hp and running away from a tank.

I don't want a full prices sequel, I just want more official maps.

NO! DON'T!
Enough with L4D!

GMod is a mod that requires support from specific source games.
L4D2 is a Valve game. In comparison, that's pretty dead.
They probably have some big DLC in the works, it just takes them longer than the TF2 team to release anything.
If they have something related to L4D in the works, it must be huge given the amount of time since they last released new content.
People whine about mutation updates because they're not full enough, people whine about bug fixes because they don't play it anymore. Which in the same sense, means it's stupid as shit to complain about mutation updates. Therefore, nobody post in L4D threads again.
[editline]e[/editline]
ever.
"The Swamp:
-Skipping the airplane event should now be much more difficult."
Should be?
I guess there's only so much you can do with a zombie shooter with a couple of special infected.
How to bring L4D2 back from the dead:
Bring back Last Stand
Get some (lots) more official maps that clue up the storyline.
Give CSS weapons to all.
Bring back ammo pack, riot shield, ect for some freshened gameplay.
Better models.
Fix the mutation gametype so server hosts can choose what mutation they want.
Put on a sale.
Obligatory TF2 promotion.
This would really bring it back and round up people that have it installed but don't play.
Crash course is in L4D2.
I stopped playing L4D2 after they removed the grenade jump exploit
I had so much fun with my friends just jumping to places like the burger tank sign

- is anybody really interested in the "storyline"? Most of it was conveyed through the comic IMO. In the game it's pretty much just excuses to go from one map to the next, something always happens that de facto throws the survivors back to step one. It's part of the TV Show-like episodic structure.
- not sure if that's worth the balancing riots it'll cause
- I think there's a reason these have been scrapped, but not sure
- I really don't think graphics are Source games' selling point, so what's wrong with the current models?
I agree on the maps however. Most of the diversity in L4D comes from the leveldesign, as indicated by the necessity of a Director that's able to move parts of mazes around and dynamically spawn items. The actual enemies are pretty much staples with the occasional map flavor like clown zombies.
However, after Cold Stream I'm not so optimistic people will be inclined to welcome new maps with open arms, so if they do a new one, it would need to meet a pretty high quality standard, including a lot of dynamic bits and easter eggs etc.
I wonder if things would've played out the same way for L4D if Valve made the game more "comical" and allowed for more diverse items and weapon stats. The unlocks in TF2 I have the most fun with bring completely new gameplay elements and possibilities to the table. But I don't think that's the intention of L4D that, aside from the Special Infected, is a pretty standard but solid zombie shooter.
