Pacific Rim 2 has been set for a 2017 release, which Universal will bring to theaters. Additionally Guillermo del Toro says he’s also developing an animated Pacific Rim show that will debut before the film sequel.

The characters I love will return. Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau – but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display amazing sights and battles. The first film set the stage and now we’re ready to have a blast.

Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand) is working on the sequel script, and original screenwriter Travis Beacham is working on the sequel and overall franchise development.
Source: http://www.slashfilm.com/pacific-rim-2/

This is too long a wait. I need more Jaeger punching and I need it now.

more Newt and Gottlieb in this one please 3 years is too long to wait
fuck yeah
more Newt and Gottlieb in this one please 3 years is too long to wait
maybe hl3 can also come out in that year
Pacific Rim has become one of my favorite cult movies
Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand) is working on the sequel script, and original screenwriter Travis Beacham is working on the sequel and overall franchise development.
Only thing that worries me, but then again, the scriptwriting wasn't the best in the first film.
Still holding out for a Mechwarrior/Battletech movie one day but this owns
Alright, so I'm kind of confused. They closed the rift in the first movie, right? What're they going to follow that up with?
The only thing that could make this better are sideburns.
Alright, so I'm kind of confused. They closed the rift in the first movie, right? What're they going to follow that up with?
there's a second rift now hence Pacific Rim 2
I feel like this animated series could be shit.
I feel like this animated series could be shit.
But it could easily be the shit
Only thing that worries me, but then again, the scriptwriting wasn't the best in the first film.
Let's all be honest though. The best part of pacific rim wasn't it's story, it was the massive robot battles.
Maybe in this one, all the non-English speaking pilots won't die in the first fight!
Let's all be honest though. The best part of pacific rim wasn't it's story, it was the massive robot battles.
I didnt know I'd ever say this but it'd be a deal breaker for me if they decided to be story driven to a point where it cuts out most of the kickass robot fights.
Please let Wayne Barlowe design the monsters/aliens again for this new part and the show, that was what I liked the most about the original.
I didnt know I'd ever say this but it'd be a deal breaker for me if they decided to be story driven to a point where it cuts out most of the kickass robot fights.
They could make a really solid story, in which case I could accept some sacrifices.
Alright, so I'm kind of confused. They closed the rift in the first movie, right? What're they going to follow that up with?
Godzilla.
Crimson Typhoon for best Jaeger.
Maybe in this one, all the non-English speaking pilots won't die in the first fight!
But they all spoke english... and they all spoke other languages, even the american main character... and [sp]one of the only (3?) surviving jaeger pilots is a japanese woman[/sp] :v:
Pacific Rim has become one of my favorite cult movies
its not a cult movie though
I'm actually really confused by how popular this movie has become. My entire family found the movie laughable at best but mostly cringeworthy. Now it feels like I'm missing out on something since everyone else enjoyed it so much.
But they all spoke english... and they all spoke other languages, even the american main character... and [sp]one of the only (3?) surviving jaeger pilots is a japanese woman[/sp] :v:
I don't remember the Chinese and Russian guys speaking any English. Even if they did, the pilots from the rival countries of the US got killed while the pilots from our allied countries lived. It's not really a big deal but I was hoping for a story of an international (I guess in this case, Pacific based) team working together to fight kaijus without national boundaries getting in the way and it ended up feeling a little "America and her allies, ooorah!"
Pacific Rim had the perfect amount of story for what it was. Cheesy when it needed to be, but didn't stray too far from plot
This one better have a chainsword. [editline]26th June 2014[/editline]
I'm actually really confused by how popular this movie has become.
