My friend wants to use wireless on his xbox 360, but the wireless adapter from Microsoft costs about 100 dollars around here. Are there any alternatives to the microsoft adapter that he can buy at walmart or bestbuy? He CAN NOT buy online, do not suggest it please. Thanks for help
ethernet
What? If you mean wired, he does wireless at the location where he has it setup now, but he wants to use it on a different tv.
Cables everywhere!! What's the point of wireless, when you can have a nice cable that's better?
Use internet connection sharing on a PC with wireless and connect the Xbox to the PC via ethernet. That's what I do, and it works perfectly fine. Main reason why I keep my 8 year old PC around. Only other option is to buy a cheap one off eBay.
Pelican makes an Xbox 360 wireless adapter. You might find one at gamestop.
I connect mine by bridging a wireless network through a desktop. The 360 has a wired connection to the desktop and the desktop has a wireless connection. I think you can also put some custom firmware on a router and use that.
I've seen a wireless adapter that plugs through the ethernet port at bestbuy before.
I bought my netgear game extender ages ago for ~$45 back when 802,11g was the shit. Once you set it up you never have to worry about it again.
The only way is to find a refurbished G adaptor. Only other way is ebay. Or rob someone.
if you mean this one look at this http://www.7daysget.com/microsoft-xbox-360-wireless-wifi-network-adapter_p5646.html * i placed 2 orders on this site, one is a stun gun the other one is a wireless keyboard, i got the stun gun after a month and now still waiting for the keyboard, 3 weeks already. ** i have no idea if that adapter from Microsoft or not。 good luck
Put a cable to from the Xbox to the Laptop/Computer with WiFi and Bridge the connections! :D That's how i do it.
I have an old WRT54G which I installed the DD-WRT custom firmware on to set up an ethernet bridge with my wireless network. I sold my wireless adapter, made £40 and lost very little connection speed. It works pretty well.
100 foot ethernet cable. Do eet.
Look on Ebay. If you are looking for wireless that is... if otherwise, use your ethernet cable which is a red cable.
Get the new one with wireless built in. :v: [editline]10:09PM[/editline] Ethernet cables are blue fuck you. :frown:
Get the new one with wireless built in. :v: [editline]10:09PM[/editline] Ethernet cables are blue fuck you. :frown:
I think they vary. Mine are yellow, I've seen blue, green, and white ones, but never red ones.
I have plenty of red ethernet cables.
My cables are mostly yellow, but i have grey, orange, blue, and black.
Yeah of course they come in all sorts of colours, but it doesn't feel right unless they are blue.
Mine is grey with yellow connectors on the ends. And it's super long.
Buy one on Dealextreme, they're super cheap there.

Just as a word of warning about the network bridging: I've got four PCs and three laptops on my wireless network, not to mention the intermittent things like mobile phones, PSPs, DSes and a signal booster. Setting up a bridge has caused me no end of bizarre network issues, though it's more likely that the issues are caused by the signal booster rather than the bridge itself, but it's still a pain in the ass. The most frequent problem is that plugging in the Xbox will bump everyone else off the network. Also our firewall detects three or four new networks every time we plug in the Xbox (except when everyone else gets bumped off the network, of course). These things can usually be fixed by resetting the router, but resetting your router every time you attach or detach the Xbox is more hassle than it's worth.

Pretty automatic and doesn't affect anyone else on the network.
