The spot, from a shadowy group called the "True Republican PAC," also criticizes Byrne for suggesting the Bible is "only partially true." Byrne, a former Democrat, is one of a number of candidates for the Republican nomination, and his opponents include "ten commandments judge" Roy Moore and Tim James, who last month released an ad in which he said, "We speak English. If you want to live here, learn it." In a response, Byrne said the ad was filled with "despicable lies" - and insisted he is no opponent of creationism. "As a Christian and as a public servant, I have never wavered in my belief that this world and everything in it is a masterpiece created by the hands of God," he said. "As a member of the Alabama Board of Education, the record clearly shows that I fought to ensure the teaching of creationism in our school text books. Those who attack me have distorted, twisted and misrepresented my comments and are spewing utter lies to the people of this state." He also said that, contrary to the ad's claims, he believes "every single word" of the Bible is true.[/release]
As a member of the Alabama Board of Education, the record clearly shows that I fought to ensure the teaching of creationism in our school text books.
 THEY'RE ALL RETARDS
In an ad released earlier this month, which you can watch above, Alabama gubernatorial candidate Bradley Byrne is attacked for suggesting that evolution, as opposed to creationism, "best explains the origin of life."
Evolution doesn't explain the origin of life. Seriously, Alabama seems like a foreign world to me.
Ad: "This politician makes GOOD ARGUMENTS and INFORMED OPINIONS. Do you really want him governing?" Politican: "No that's a lie I'm actually a fucking idiot!"
Evolution doesn't explain the origin of life. Is the whole world as fucked up as it is here?
Ad: "This politician makes GOOD ARGUMENTS and INFORMED OPINIONS. Do you really want him governing?" Politican: "No that's a lie I'm actually a fucking idiot!"
This pretty much sums it up.

Fecking Alabama, How does it work?
Fecking Alabama, How does it work?
they evolved backwards
I drove through Alabama once. It was like time traveling back a thousand years.
Alabama: the land that believes in fairy tales and thinks legitimate facts are crap.
derrr im alabama
Dumbfuckistan: The union of Southern States. I swear, it's like a certain breed of people who live there are actually going BACKWARDS in human evolutionary stages.
Too bad most people are too stupid to understand EVOLUTION DOESN'T MEAN AHTEISM. Seriously, when I was in school, my Biology professor was evolutionist AND religious. Like I said, this governor needs to realize this.
Hey, you know how Texas wanted to secede from the Union? Is there anyway to kick a state out of the Union?
Actually, being an Atheist and an evolutionist should be a badge of merit.
If he denies it that makes it true?
Actually, being an Atheist and an evolutionist should be a badge of merit.
It's one-sided comments like this that start flame wars on FP. [editline]04:36PM[/editline]
Hey, you know how Texas wanted to secede from the Union? Is there anyway to kick a state out of the Union?
If I remember correctly, states CAN peacefully secede from the Union at times. Problem though is they're immediately surrounded by a country that naturally bullies the weak, plus they're unhappy about the loss of a state
It's one-sided comments like this that start flame wars on FP.
I only said it because it's downright absurd that it's the other way around - an insult to human intelligence.
I think the Pope or the Vatican has also stated that evolution should be respected.
I only said it because it's downright absurd that it's the other way around - an insult to human intelligence.
"I believe everything that happened in this world was of total blind chance, no rhyme or reason, everything's materialistic, dreams and thoughts and hopes and feelings are nothing but fake, and anyone who disagrees is a tool" "I believe possibly eveyrthing of how this world works was possibly engineered by some sort of Higher Power that used evolution to do-so" Both of those sound rather ridiculous, it just depends on your personal beliefs. I personally believe the latter of those two statements, you believe the first. [editline]04:39PM[/editline]
I think the Pope or the Vatican has also stated that evolution should be respected.
Plenty of other religious people have this opinion too of theistic evolution, but evolution's been given such a bad name most people think "NOOO ATHEISM" when they think of evolution.
"I believe everything that happened in this world was of total blind chance, no rhyme or reason, everything's materialistic, dreams and thoughts and hopes and feelings are nothing but fake, and anyone who disagrees is a tool"
You're totally not biased. I am kidding, you are a prejudiced asshole.
You're totally not biased. I am kidding, you are a prejudiced asshole.
I strongly disagree with that, all that was was a repeat of what typicaly atheists (that I've seen) say on FP. I'm religious, not atheist.
I strongly disagree with that, all that was was a repeat of what typicaly atheists (that I've seen) say on FP. Claiming that all atheists are assholes only shows yourself to be a dick.

Plenty of other religious people have this opinion too of theistic evolution, but evolution's been given such a bad name most people think "NOOO ATHEISM" when they think of evolution.
Let an Atheist define an atheistic belief, please. It goes more like this: Atheists: I believe that the circumstances that were ideal for the start of life arose completely by chance, and that humanity is the result of hundreds of millions of years of harsh natural selection. I believe that in a galaxy containing billions of solar systems, other sapient life is almost a certainty. I believe in the scientific method, and I believe nothing until evidence supporting it is brought to light. I believe that those with strength to make a positive difference in the lives of others have a responsibility to do so. I believe in upholding the rights of minorities and those who are unable to defend themselves. I believe that intolerance should be met in kind, and that human beings have a duty to seek the truth because of the intelligence we have. Christians: Jesus did it.
Christians: Jesus did it.
Only the redneck Christians. More sophisticated ones will say "God or some sort of Higher Power enacted this world through some process, evolution perhaps, or another way." In a nutshell, this is what they say: Atheists: Random chance Typical Christians: Jesus did it Sophisticated Christians/other Religists: God did it through various processes Everyone has their own way of explaining the world, it's one's personal beliefs that decide which way they pick.
Original purpose of thread: Mocking an Alabama politician Actually happens: Flame war of Athiesm
Original purpose of thread: Mocking an Alabama politician Actually happens: Flame war of Athiesm
Every thread involving religion, atheism, or evolution on FP should automatically change its title to "Religion vs. Atheism Flame War".

Obviously you don't understand Atheism. I happen to understand Christianity because I was Catholic once.

I agree, saying a Diety made the world doesn't make much sense, but neither does saying some explosion did it. As I said, personal ideas dictate which of those ways you believe.
Let me grab my claymore and horse.
