Would installing XP on my Vista make me be able to play games better?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if I install XP on my vista, would I be able to play games better? I'm wondering this because I noticed that on Vista system requirements are usually higher than XP's for games. So would I be able to get better FPS?

There's two ways your question could be interpreted:

If you mean installing XP as a virtual machine("XP on Vista"), then no, it will be worse.

If you mean dual booting xp and vista, with xp for games and vista for everything else. Then yes, a little. But you'll have to ask yourself if you really want to constantly switch back and forth between OSes whenever you get a whim to play a game. I'd say pick what you'd rather have, vista or xp and just have one.

i say pick 7. its better than vista and both are better than XP.

I had Vista then Windows Seven. I finally went back to XP. I can now play Ep1 on highest settings and resolution, as to before where I could only play on lowest settings at 800x600.

(note: Highest settings includes AA and filtering.)

Lies. It sounds illogical to blaim the OS for slow frame rate. You must have had a shitload of background processes on that wasn't supposed to be on when you used vista/seven.

The only thing a different OS can effect is loading times and [i]slight[/i] fps changes which can be due to the OS using more RAM, and having more intensive background processes. Resolution and post-processing effects are entirely handled by your graphics card, the OS won't really be touching those while you are playing a game.

No. The less RAM the OS gobbles up, the better. Windows 7 uses SOOOOO much less RAM than my Vista install did, and I'd love to vLite Windows 7 and try it out in terms of speed.
