It only deletes the DirectX installer files launched the very first time a game is launched (As far as I can understand).
Also, it removed ~700mb for me.

The files that are deleted are only run the first time you play the game to make sure you have everything it needs.

I've always found it funny whenever a game distributes the DirectX installers with it. I always just delete the installers, and the game runs fine either way.
I know all of the versions are distributed, simply because of how each game could have been built on a different version of the library, but I haven't actually come across any problems by not installing them in the first place.
