I'm getting about $1000 dollars for a new computer (starting budget) and looking to expand later as I get more money. I'm looking for a gaming desktop. I'm in America too.
A little more info would help. Are you reusing keyboard+mouse? moniter? speakers/headphones?
i'm reusing headphones and mouse the mouse does run off of a universal adapter* headset is Logitech G930 mouse is Logitech M510 no other hardware I can reuse, I have an old laptop that won't use the same connections and is outdated i do have a licensed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium that I can transfer I'm looking at being able to actually run newer games with decent graphics and a decently fast processing time *as i said before this computer is meant to be able to be upgraded later in the future but for all intensive purposes a decent one for now if you still need more information let me know what else you're looking for
Have you built a PC before?
Have you built a PC before?
I'll help him with actually building it. I can't spec out parts though.
Save more money, you're not going to be satisfied with a $1,000 gaming computer with those specs. Although you will run games with decent FPS, you probably won't be able to record it. You did say that this computer is going to be upgradable, but just save up a bit and buy a computer without having to keep upgrading it - save for an SSD, and perhaps a little better RAM.
lac1994, thanks for your feedback, i'm not looking at recording or production of anything. and the upgrading factor was meant for over a while, this computer i'm on now is dieing and i needed a replacement that is what my point was. But again thank you for your criticism. My computer right now is an Asus x83v and compared to this build it's a big upgrade.

The Cooler Master HAF 912 is a lot better with better cooling capability and more features. CPU: The FX-8120 isn't really the best for gaming. I would rather go for an i5-2500k because it performs better than the FX-8120 in games. RAM: RAM with giant heat spreaders aren't necessary. All they do is provide difficulty when installing a big aftermarket CPU cooler and are more expensive. DDR3-1333 Value RAM would work just fine, you wouldn't notice a difference. Motherboard: Since I recommended an Intel processor, you need an Intel motherboard. You can save money by getting a very good budget motherboard, such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271 Anything I didn't comment on means it's fine, except for maybe the power supply which is a little overkill for this build. A 600 or 650W can run this build easily.
awesome thanks for the insight! i'll look into what you were talking about My final Build came out to being just right for budget and still something i was really hoping in having thank you all for your help!
hope it's not too late to advise you get a z77 motherboard because z68 is obsolete now and get the Ivy Bridge i5
not too late Snausage, and good catch thanks! my last question is of these three hard drives which is best of all? I got an answer from someone else about this topic, his response was the WD for reliability. Thanks everyone again for being very helpful!
The WD is good but I'd get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
