So as you may know Arizona passed a new bill recently and basically it says that the police have the right to have anyone show them their papers in order to prove that they are in fact American citizens.
However there has been a lot of controversy over this and i don't understand what could the problem be with this bill?
facepunch, help me out
It's facist since Hitler made things like this and it led to camps with inhumane treating (guantanamo doesn't count cuz it's made to protect freedom, lol)
Racial profiling and cops pulling people over because they look like immigrants and want paperwork to prove they're not
Racial profiling and cops pulling people over because they look like immigrants and want paperwork to prove they're not
yeah the cops beat all legal immigrants just for the kicks.
if they cant produce the papers and if they are illegal then why wouldn't they deport them.
also i know it sucks but the people coming over to America illegally aren't french, Italian, or Canadian, they are Mexican. Im not saying racial profiling is good but it there because most of the people coming in are Mexicans

no but it would be annoying to be latino and get asked for your "papers" randomly just for your race, I know I would be incredibly offended.

The problem is that people are being forced to show their papers with no proof that they're doing anything wrong. It's going to end up causing lots of legal hispanics to get arrested simply because they went for a stroll without their wallet.

even if you are a legal person who looks Mexican you will still be jailed because you won't be able to prove you are a US citizen (you need a primary form of identification: birth certificate, passport, etc. driver's license does not count nor does a social security card).
You are a mexican, or look of spanish/latino descent. You came here legally.
Why should you have to waste your time to show your papers EVERY time a cop thinks you look mexican? It definitely will not build any kind of trust between that group and the police.

why wouldn't you have proof if you are a real citizen?

sure, but if a latino is 100 times more often found to be illegal immigrant compaired to other groups, wouldn't checking them 100 times more often be just fair?
why wouldn't you have proof if you are a real citizen?
If he isn't carrying a primary and secondary form of identification (i.e., he forgot one at home), he can be jailed. It is a massive waste of time, and is only going to generate animosity towards police, and state/local levels of government.

so thousands of mexicans are sneaking over the border weakening the labor force and placing bigger burdens on the people who actually pay taxes pushing the country even farther into debt and we are worried about trust in the police?
So how do you identify illegals?
I'd say that it is inherent that you have to racially profile in order to find illegal immigrants.

Explain how they weaken the labor force when we DEPEND on them because they take jobs that lazy fat fuck Americans won't do. Many of them do in fact pay taxes. Look up the word precedent. This law is a disgrace to America.

Do you carry proof of citizenship with you everywhere you go? I don't mean just your license. I mean a birth certificate and all of that.

but what percentage is many, the problem is we can only estimate how many people are here illegally so this "many" could be only 1 or 2%
racial profiling was never okay by us standards
you guys are only okay with this shit because you're not mexican in arizona
also you're secretly racist
If I were a cop I would go around asking white guys just to piss them off thinking they escaped this bill.
Guilty until proven innocent.
Shouldn't have to say any more than that.
I think it's great. For those of you who don't live in Arizona, I don't think you should have an opinion on this.

I'm going to kill my wife. For those of you who aren't in my family, I don't think you should have an opinion on this.
You know how many fucking illegals are in Arizona??
My mom got hit by some dumbass illegal with a car, had to go to the hospital, and the guy ran away.
its not that hard to just start carrying a copy of your birth certificate around in your pocket, people already do it with cash and credit cards so i still don't understand what the problem is
but what percentage is many, thats the problem is we can only estimate how many people are here illegally so this "many" could be only 1 or 2%
Assuming that each person pays an equal amount in taxes (which is hugely inaccurate, most people pay much lower, and this doesn't even take into account businesses which make up most of the revenue) each person that pays taxes paid around $3900 in taxes to the IRS. Assuming that there are ten million illegal immigrants (Which is again, unlikely) each of them paid an average of $930. If only one to two percent paid their taxes, that would be an average of $93000 per person.
With wages for illegals as low as they are, the estimate of $930 in taxes is very close to a legal citizen at that wage. I know that not all illegals pay taxes, so it's more likely that there are those who pay more, but it is unlikely for even only 60% of them to share the burden.

Do you ever forget things at home when you are going to walk across the street?

no bro the point is they shouldn't have to
like everyone else

Injustices will never be destroyed if the destruction of them is left up to the people committing the injustices
