And then you have customers complaining about shit services because it's on some old servers, if the game's dead online then it's dead there's no point in keeping up a service if no one'll be using it regularly.
CS 1.6 would have died so long ago if EA was running it, along with massive outcry followed by EA not giving a shit.

I bought Madden and not even a full year later they shut servers down for it... The new one had barely come out
I mean, they literally just switch players rosters around, and add new players. It only takes them a week of work to make a new madden game now. Yeah them having no competition makes Madden suck now. The only football games that I think are the most fun are pre 2005.
It's proven that competition forces companies to produce higher quality products (Look at IE9 compared to previous versions) and Madden is pretty hard evidence of what will happen when it is gone.

Do you ever stop and think that Valve does that because they can afford to? I mean yeah it's sweet that Valve is able to do that, but Valve is in a great situation.
They can literally just do nothing and they still make money from Steam.

I guess you missed the point where they said the reason they're shutting them down is because there's barely anyone playing them online.
They're not shutting them down because they're old, they're doing it because less than 1% play these games online, so it becomes unecessary to keep these old games' online services online.
