Hello Facepunch,
Next month there's this contest in my country in which me and a friend are going to participate in.
So for that purpose we're going to need a good duet-acting script. It doesn't need to be original, just well played and under the following conditions:
- It has to be about 7-8 minutes. So if you're thinking of some video, it should be more than 6 minutes long.
- It's a duet, so what ever you recommend should be able to be done by at least two people. (more is fine as well, we can play more than one roles)
- We cannot use any objects on stage. I think there's only two chairs on stage, I am not sure, but even if there are there's nothing more we are allowed to use.
- It should not contain much swearing and all, obviously.
We've been thinking of doing some Monty Python sketch, but I'd like to know what you people have to recommend before we decide. Feel free to recommend anything, youtube or whatever, as long as it meets the above requirements...
Sounds similar to "Flight of the Concords"
Try watching a few of their videos, they have really good humor.
Granted, they play instruments and shit but regardless the humor is still humor.
Hope you win :buddy:

Videos I find are 2-3 minutes long, which is not what I am looking for. If you got any specific one in mind please post a link...
Sounds kinda like the duet thing for speech I did. Our script sucked, but many people did those parody fairy-tales or Dr. Seuss. A couple people did Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and it was pretty good. In general, the comedy pieces were better.

Well this one's comedy only. But there's also another category for drama acts.
How about the argument clinic sketch from Monty Python?

What you should do is go to the library, find Neil Simon, look left and right and read those scripts. Find a scene with two people and cut it down to the time you need. That's what I do when I need scripts. It's also how I find monologues for my acting classes.
Also, if you don't have a native British accent, don't try to do one. Just do the pieces without the accent. Trust me.

I have considered all the good Monty Python sketches, and if I find nothing better I'll either do this or the Parrot Sketch..

Ok I'll look this up first thing tomorrow cause it's getting late now...
And does the second part refer to Monty Python sketches?

I was referring to monty python, but also to any piece that asks for a dialect. If the piece absolutely needs the dialect then find a piece that doesn't.

Both are amazing for duo

What part of Scent of a Woman? Cause I've seen the movie...
Also, I'll check Neil Simon later today, I just woke up...
Whatever you're going to do, good luck with it, mate.

That didn't help much, but thank you!

Well you can look at Neil Simon, I'm just saying head to that part because that's where all the comedy pieces are located. Neil Simon is great, but also overdone because of how great he is.
If your partner is a girl, do "The Marriage Proposal" by Anton Checov, it's awesome and hilarious. If it's another dude, draw straws for dressing in drag.
Or you could do parts from the Princess Bride, that's what me and my friend did.

Partner's a dude...
Also, no other suggestions except Neil Simon? Come on people, give me more to choose from!
How about "Who's on first" by abbot and costello?

We're working on a cutting of the whole entire movie. Hour and a half into 10 minutes.

whoa, that should be hard...
whoa, that should be hard...
It isn't really. You've just got to highlight the memorable scenes. I've seen an Humorous Interp of Despicable Me, which was really good. He hit all the memorable lines as well as some nice awkward pauses.

Memorable lines, like this one:

Still, 2 people doing multiple roles is not easy...
