If the American Federal Government or US Supreme Court legalized Gay Marriage...

The fundamentalist Christian Republicans would be pissed about it for a while.
Fox news would be coming up with all kinds of propaganda bullshit.
Then the Westboro Baptist Church would step in and denounce the government, and everyone else would deicde to support it at that point because they don't want to be grouped in with the WBC.
No Republican government that followed would dare to repeal that law, because they'd lose the next election.
Since I'm in Canada, that's the best guess I can come up with.
Would it work?

I see a problem right here.
Okay.

Most people don't even know or care who the WBC are.

Really? Well, so much for that idea.
It should be up to the state
It should be up to the state
Not where human rights are concerned, it shouldn't. Many of the states are in violation of certain constitutional rights in that regard.
I don't like fundamentalist Christians, anyway; what do I care if they're pissed off? They're always bitching about something.
Who cares what's in your pants? It's what's in your heart that counts.

so some states violating some rights means a big fucking deal right?

It should.
How does gay people marrying affect anyone who is not gay?
I'm worried for the well-being of this thread.
OP's theory wouldn't occur. Sorry, it's just not that simple.
Actually, scratch that- it's very simple. Until the generation of people who are too concreted into narrow-minded beliefs are gone, massive change on topics such as this will not happen.
One thing you have to admire about the Westboro church is that they are at least honest about their hatred.
I'm sure many "freedom loving" people on the American right wing spectrum love to see their nation as beacon of personal freedoms, they'll March down to Washington to wave their flag and protest some healthcare bills (calling Obama a communist or fascist or what have you), but the second a gay guy or girl wants to marry somebody from the same sex, they'll shoot down any legislation that gets near it. It's really two faced if you ask me.
After all, America is the freest nation in the world.
as long as you're not a colored minority or a fag.
Would be nice if the federal government could just grow some balls and force this legislation down the throats of anybody who apposes it. People might complain for a bit, but honestly, when it comes down to it, they are complaining that they don't have the opportunity to rob somebody else of their rights to an official marriage status. It's disgusting that's it only been legalized in something like 5 states.
i'm strongly against gay marriage and was actually for prop 8 - same gender relations is repulsive and brutally disgusting. it's biologically illogical and just morally wrong since i am a Lutheran. don't let this disease spread before it's too late...
There's some benefits, ranging from a boost to marriage taxes to a form of population slow-down.
And there could be a boost in numbers of fancy restaurants.

On topic, if they are legalizing Gay Marriage, and then some, I don't really want to have my children saying that they're Gay while they're still in Elementary School.

Oh wait, nothing about your post is logical. Hah.
I'm sorry, you can believe as you wish. And I love America for allowing me to live and think as freely as I want- but forcing others to not, because it's 'disgusting' in your eyes, is, well, disgusting.

Lol human rights. The United States are run very differently. It's not over some parliament vote like you Canadians do it. In essence, it's up to the states.

Damn straight.
It should be up to the federal government and it should be legalized. You can give off this bullshit about not hating black people for so long because "They're humans too", but then when it's gay people, suddenly it's ok to not let them be equal.
After all, America is the freest nation in the world.
Where do you get this from? Who ever said that it's the freest?
