I'm gonna see if I'll be able to watch it live this year.
the meta is less boring this time around
Lets hope we see more variety this time instead of most the teams being serious Chinese people with no personality.

Uh, old Vici Gaming had personality. rOtk was known to be one of the most loudmouth Chinese players ever.

I'm not saying all of them are bad, but the majority just look like dead eyed robots that were created in a lab to be as good at dota as possible.
They could at least give us a smile or two when they win.
They could at least give us good fucking games in the first place, not 3 consecutive 20-25 minute ggs with the dumbest fucking drafts.
TI4 finals were a JOKE.

Let's debug this problem
First, it because its basically China vs China. Same slow meta fighting. All fast meta team got kicked out like Alliance, Navi and everyone else.
So how to solve this? Restricting final to only 1 team each country works, but it will probably cause some unforeseen consequences. A better solution is to make use of other tournaments as the prequalifiers for TI, like you need to have several first (or second or third) place in medium to big 'official' tournaments. This will remove shit teams, then making it more unlikely for 2 team to originate from same country, and it will balance out the 'hype' between TI and smaller tournaments.

*loud buzzer* Wrong answer.
Both Vici Gaming and Newbee were the kings of the deathball strat at TI4 and it wouldn't surprise me if their average game time was ~30 minutes for TI. Na'Vi and Alliance both got knocked out because they didn't know how to draft in that patch. Drafting in the TI4 patch was a nightmare for any captain as the viable hero pool was fucking huge. Alliance especially sucked ass because they were still trying to play the rat Dota strat that won them TI3 despite it being awful and every team had their number on it. Even a team like DK, who was considered the best team in the world by lineup alone, preferred playing games slightly longer than the meta "allowed" and that got them knocked out by Vici.
