First of all let's get your ass excited Official Site - Youtube Page
We play Heavy Metal A Capella. Melodic metal songs, arranged for 5 singers and one drummer. All instruments that would be played by musicians in a regular metalband are imitated by our voices. Bass, guitars, solos, keyboard sounds. On top we put two lead singers, a male one and a female one. But we left the drums what they are, as we do not do disco pop. And having a drummer like Bastian it would be a shame not to let him play.
More... Shit that's not copy-pasted They've done various covers and a bunch of original songs, made a music video about Runes of Magic, and they just basically make everything awesome. They also use actual amps to closer mimic the sound of real instruments, which is extra sweet and I'm pretty sure it's basically the only reason Stef can pull off the solos. The Band The band is, from left to right: - Bastian Emig (drums) - Ross Thompson (upper rakkatakka) - Inga Scharf (female lead) - Ingo 'Ike' Sterzinger (lower dandan) - Dennis 'Sly' Schunke (male lead) - Stefan Schmidt (lower rakkatakka, solos) Albums Van Canto have, at present, three albums. They are: - A Storm to Come (2006) - Hero (2009) - Tribe of Force (2010) Media What kind of music thread is complete without, well, music? As you see at the top of the thread, they've covered Master of Puppets. What else have they done? Battery (Metallica) Wishmaster (Nightwish) Kings of War (Manowar) Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden) Take to the Sky (Original - featuring Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian, apparently) Magic Taborea (Original - continued trend of failure to disprove that all metalheads are nerds) One to Ten (Original - featuring Victor Smolski of Rage, try to pick which one is the real guitar) To Sing a Metal Song (Original - probably my favorite song from them) And I'm sure you can find more if you search for them on Youtube or just check their channel. Feedback on the thread welcome (& probably needed). General ranting encouraged. Don't forget to close your mouth. If something's broken, whine at me, I'll grumble a lot and fix it later.
Van Canto is a really interesting gimmick but their music isn't something I particularly enjoy.
I was just thinking about how something like this would be funny. :v:
