Wasn't there a petition to get rid of GEMA? I also remember some pretty famous musician saying that GEMA pissed him off by banning one of his own songs in Germany only and should be removed.
I just want to watch some video but oh no if that video uses one copyrighted song for half a second. Bullshit of the highest levels.

I've been to several conventions in Germany. Every year we get warnings regarding room parties, like you can't advertise them as public and there's a maximum amount of people cap if music is played....just to protect the convention staff from GEMA lawsuits. There's different kind of licencing in different rooms of the freakin' hotel if I understood it correctly.
It's like a giant "no fun allowed" organization.

I use DailyMotion as well.
Only a matter of time before were gonna have to pay for our videos' audio with the way this crap is going. Warner has been acting like the supreme being of our earholes for the past couple of ears and youtube is so scared of copyright

GEMA's just worried that you might piece together the whole song through snippets in videos. Yeah, the song would be 64kb/s and filled with random noises and varying volumes, but you'd still be stealing!
It's a miracle remixes are possible according to this sort of shit.
Aaand soon enough we'll get a table of songs that YT mutes which we can refer to while making the video without having to fuck with YT's interface. Neat!

Yeah but only if the license is tied to your account and not to your video. I can see people having problems with false claims about some video making it get taken down, and if you want to re-upload or anything woop woop, you break copyright because your license was for using a song in a specific upload.

Wikipedia says that the German parliament's gotten over 1,863 petitions against GEMA.
Doesn't even matter that much anyway, they redflaged one of my videos recently because the NYPD was playing a song it recognized.

One of my recent videos was blocked due to a song that wasn't even in the video.
It's not the first time I've had it happen, either.
Luckily, all my new videos fall under fair use of any music that happens to play, and i haven't had any issue when filing disputes.
