• Internet slower/crashes after reinstalling PC.

Reinstalled my PC about 2 days ago (from Windows 8 to 8.1) and did a complete wipe on my harddrives. After this I noticed I downloaded games slower (2-3MB/s instead of up to 6MB/s) and sites loaded slower etcetera. Now it seems to crash at times or go slow for all users in the house. I'm not sure if all of this is because of the ISP or if it actually happened when i reinstalled the PC. I also noticed that my PS3s internet will crash if I use WIFI on my phone, and I couldn't load pics on FP or browse the web if I had WIFI on my phone. I have no idea what could've caused this. (The PS3 thing has happened a long time but I didn't really care since it didn't affect me if i just temporarily turned off WIFI on phone) My phone (If needed) is a Nexus 5 32GB running 4.4.4 Router is a Netgear CG3100. (I have access to the router if I need to configure anything there) And PC (If needed) i5 2500k 4.4GHz ASUS P8Z68-V Pro latest BIOS 2x GTX 670 Samsung 840 PRO 120gb Samsung 840 EVO 500gb WD Green (I think) 1TB Windows 8.1 Pro I will contact ISP and Netgear but if you guys could figure out what could be wrong or help me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks.
Try update your network driver, I'm assuming your using the built in Intel 82579. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23071
If it's happening for all devices in the house it's going to be something from your ISP/router. Try a speed test to see if it's your isp
It seems to be improving a bit but that might just be temporary. Getting 25mbps on Speedtest now (I'm supposed to get 50+). How would I check router for firmware updates? On the router page?
Yeah I need to update router via cable apparently and I cant move my PC to the router (It' downstairs) It seems my sister is getting a good connection (48mbit/s with speedtest) but I'm fluctuating between anywhere from 0.4Mbit to 25mbit/s and being slow as fuck. I bought a new USB network adapter incase it was my old that was the fault but its still slow as shit. I tried switching to 5GHz on router page but no difference, also switched channels etc. Nothing works. I've reinstalled my system 3 times now in the past week.
