That's terrible
The fuck? no daily or flash sales?
Well this blows. Hope the deals are at least good but still how can you have a steam seasonal sale without daily deals and stuff like that.
The lack of flash sales is good You don't have to be awake every 8 hour window to keep in the loop I have actually lost sleep over this in the past
I have too but i still love them, this is kinda shitty.
Daily sales are the biggest highlight of the sales, at least for me, so no idea what's going on here. Seems like it's a strange move to make. Couldn't care less about flash sales though, they were annoying and usually not worth it anyway.
I hope this means that's the daily sale prices will be for the entire sale, but I highly doubt it.
The lack of flash sales is good You don't have to be awake every 8 hour window to keep in the loop I have actually lost sleep over this in the past
Pretty sure the flash sales are 24 hours long, there's just a new one every 12 hours but the previous one still remains for another 12 after that.
Well this is gonna be a lame Winter Sale. But hey long as there isn't a gimmicky "PAY US YOUR MONEY TO GET A CRAPPY THING" contest I'm solid. Specially if Fallout 4 get's a bit cheaper.
fucking hell that's not what it is im in the steamworks group, this is why it says CONFIDENTIAL so people don't jump to conclusions instead of having 25% off on some days, and 40% off when you're featured, its 40% off all the time now now you don't have to worry that a game may be in a flash sale and be like 20% cheaper because you bought it on another day
Yeah this is actually a good thing, you can budget your purchases from day one
Pretty sure the flash sales are 24 hours long, there's just a new one every 12 hours but the previous one still remains for another 12 after that.
That's only been that way for a little over a year or so. Before, if you missed that 8 hour window, it was gone and your next best bet was finding someone willing to trade for the active flash sale at a similar value (which of course is way more difficult now due to the trade delay on purchase).
No dailies or flash sales is good imo. Supposedly, games will be at a fixed price, probably with the price already reduced to what they would be on a special sale? If so, it defeats the purpose of waiting impatiently. Besides, everyone (or at least everyone with a brain) always waited for flash sales instead of buying right off the bat with a small discount.
I would be absolutely livid if I buy a bunch of games during the sale week and on the last day there's a supersale where everything is even cheaper
valve really needs to start cracking down on these leaks, its pretty annoying at this point
I would be absolutely livid if I buy a bunch of games during the sale week and on the last day there's a supersale where everything is even cheaper
That's never happened though? And there's no reason to think it will? [editline]20th November 2015[/editline] Upward inflection?
Pretty sure the flash sales are 24 hours long, there's just a new one every 12 hours but the previous one still remains for another 12 after that.
The process has changed over the years to better suit steam and the customers Flash sales did used to expire quickly
valve really needs to start cracking down on these leaks, its pretty annoying at this point
I don't think they really care, it's just sales dates.
I'm calling it now; the amount discounted will be substantially less. Either that or less games will be put up on sale.
oh boy i have reached a point where i'm expecting steam to give me lots of discounts
In case anybody hasn't figured it out yet: their new refund policy poked huge holes in the old sale structure.
valve really needs to start cracking down on these leaks, its pretty annoying at this point
Not really, as far as I can tell the leaks are just a plain good thing. Whenever a sale date leaks I know when I need to have some money ready, I'm not caught off guard and I can even know what's going to be on sale before it's on sale. As far as this all goes, I don't know what to make of it. Dailies and flash sales have been huge draws in the past for steam sales and if they maintain the higher price sales while dropping the really great low dips, that will just suck. If not, then it's great. I don't have to keep hounding the steam store page checking for new sales, and I don't have to sit there paranoid that if I don't buy this game now I might be able to get it cheaper later, but if I don't buy it now what if it's more expensive later, and shit like that. Although, to be frank, I don't really know what I'm going to get this year, if anything. Most of the games I'm interested in stubbornly refuse to go on sale, or on good sales. At that, I only have really a middling interest in games on the market right now. My games library is stocked with literal dozens of titles that I haven't finished, many I haven't even touched yet, because I'm addicted to never ending games like Don't Starve and massive RPGs that I'm a little too much of an altoholic to ever finish, which I've recently kicked and committed to working through the backlog. Anyway, everything I wanted is now in my library, so now what? Should I finally play Far Cry 3? Crypt of the NecroDancer? SOMA? I don't know, but nothing is really making me lust to buy it. Anyone else feel the same way? We still do the hyped up song and dance every time steam sales roll around so I'm really curious if it's just because it's tradition and we don't actually have a whole lot to get excited about.
