There’s a new DC Animated Series on the way… and this one’s all about the action. Justice League Action is a brand new, quarter-hour series from Warner Bros. Animation that will be coming soon to Cartoon Network.
Featuring the return of Kevin Conroy as Batman, the Dark Knight will join with Superman and Wonder Woman and the rest of DC’s iconic team of heroes in a series that promises to put the action back in heroics. Whether defending the Earth, facing invaders from space, or battling the bizarre forces of magic, the always-rotating team of Justice League heroes, are up to any challenge. Episodes will be eleven minutes in length, meaning that the action will be tightly-paced and exciting. And awesome!
Along with Conroy, Cartoon Network have announced that several other beloved DC Animated voice actors will be contributing to the series, including Mark Hamill as the Joker (!!!), James Woods as Lex Luthor, Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold and much more. Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) will serve as executive producer with Butch Lukic (Justice League, Batman Beyond), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series) and Jim Krieg (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) serving as producers.
And like a 1/3rd of it will be commercials
This has 2 possible directions to head, either it goes full TTGO!, at which point I don't bother even getting annoyed at and just ignore it, or we get extended BatB cold openings which would be fantastic.
Also Paul Dini is attached to it as well to it seems to have a pretty good creative crew so far

Art style makes me concerned that this is going to be a "for kids" show, rather than a "fans of all ages" kind of thing. When I heard Justice League was coming back, I was praying for a Young Justice successor, or even just a new JLU, but I ain't getting that vibe from the extra "cartoony" stylized art. Conroy and Hamill are pretty darn big "gets" though, so who knows?
Either way, just give me back Young Justice.

Did you buy any Young Justice toys? if not you are the reason the show got cancelled. Hope you feel good about your self now. /s
But really, it was a terrible move to kill Young Justice because of a lousy excuse of "not enough toy sales" I don't even see toys for any of the current CN lineup.
With the current programming CN has that isn't TTGO and Uncle Grandpa. Young Justice would fit perfectly with Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe.

JLU was "For kids" but it was still available for adults, just like Avatar, Star Wars TCW, 90's batman, etc. They're sophisticated enough that an adult can understand and enjoy it well as enough as a kid.
this looks like it's another toddler show that has no jokes an adult would like and is fluffy and chibi and full of baby lessons like eating your greens (exaggeration). I really hope its not the case.

Actually, I do have a couple of YJ toys. Got me an Aqualad, a Kid Flash, and the arms and legs for the AMAZING AMAZO. No head or torso though. You have to buy the complete set to get the fucking head and torso.
Hate the art style in that promo shot, love the VA line up.
I'm conflicted, hopefully it isn't a Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! or Teen Titans Go!
I was hoping for a Young Justice style too, but with decent VA because that show was just plagued by bad voice acting.

Right, that's kinda what I meant though. Those other shows were marketed at kids, but appreciable by people of just about any age. Cool art directions, relatively sharp writing, complex plots, etc. Obviously it isn't exactly fair to judge a show entirely by its art style, but the new JL has that Bright And Cute And Shiny style that I just immediately associate with actually kiddy shows. Hope I'm wrong, though, because I'm fuckin' dying for a new DCAU series to get into.

Really? I never had any major gripes about the voice acting in YJ. One or two characters rubbed me the wrong way, but for the most part I thought it was pretty damn solid.

Some of the voice acting was solid, I liked Lex and pretty much most of the iconic Superman villains.
Batman's villains were really bad though, both Riddler and Joker had downright terrible voice acting.

Okay, yeah, I'll give you that. The Joker was fucking horrible. Just wretched.

It's like they forgot to hire a voice actor and just poked their head out the window at the last second.
"Hey, anybody want to voice a cartoon character?"
Nigma was jank too, but both Nigma and The Joker had such tiny little roles in the series (like, 1 episode I think?) that it really doesn't detract much. I just roll my eyes when I get to their few minutes of screentime.
This is going to be Teen Titans Go again isnt it
What the fuck does the artstyle have to do with what's in the show.
Sheez, just wait and see

Umm, it reflects the overall tone they're trying to convey?

These days it's not as clear cut as it once was.
Just look at The Clone Wars

Paul Dini being involved gives me a tremendous amount of faith.

I'm not sure The Clone Wars is a good argument in this case.
The Clone Wars' artstyle feels like more or less the 3D equivalent of how the old Batman and Justice League TV series looked. It's may not be full realism, but it's hardly looney tunes.

Then let's take a look at a series set in a post apocalyptic Earth where creatures straight from H.P Lovecraft's imagination are running around

I never watched Young Justice/The Justice League, but i'm willing to give this show a shot and i'm hoping that it doesn't become the next TTG.

Then take rebels, the flat comparison you can make from JLU to this
Its literally done a face turn and gone exactly the same direction as TCW
Anyone even hear of Beware the Batman? It's got a weird 3D visual style, but it has similar action scenes as Batman TAS. Can't say the same atmosphere is there though.

I hate the art style, it looks fucking terrible. JLU and BTAS had such a great art style, why mess with it?
EDIT:
they need to bring back Shirley Walkers theme

Adventure Time is a totally different tone than Justice League, honestly. This looks more dumbed down, in a Teen Titan's Go! sense. Especially in comparison.

Hell, look at Transformers: Prime. A show that shares a channel with MLP, shares the times even, kills off a popular character within the first four minutes of it's series premier episode. Symbolic blood and all. Never judge a book by it's cover.
no jared leto? shameful
Leto might end up as a really good live action joker, but you do not replace Hamill as animated joker unless you literally cannot work out a way to get him in the studio. You just don't. He is animated joker. Just like Conroy is animated batman, period.
No Aquaman??? Cmon guys, he's the best character behind Plastic Man.
11 minutes long episodes? What, are they for attention span-less kids?
I miss the Batman Animated Series days where kids shows were mature.

How to spot someone not watching current cartoons
How to spot someone not watching current cartoons
Well no, I don't. I'm sorry, at 28 years old with a full-time job and GF I don't really have time for that anymore. But from what I see, with MLP and Teen Titans Go as a first impression, it doesn't look good, and it's the ones with the biggest spotlight on so, please enlighten me if there are shows that don't suck nowadays. Maybe I'd find time for them.
