If you were in the Military, would you have a problem with knowing your comrade was gay?
Think about your answer before you bandwaggon on the progressive civil rights movement to look cool and modern.
Do you mind that you would be sleeping with an openly homosexual man in the same barracks?
Aren't you a little afraid of an openly homosexual man being in the same public shower as you?
Do you think that knowing your comrade might think you are hot would make you feel uncomfortable enough to keep you from doing your job?
If you answer Yes, or Unsure to any of these questions, look carefully at why you think gays and lesbians should be allowed to join the US military openly.
Could it be because Don't Ask, Don't Tell has cost the US military almost $400 million dollars in discharges of over 12,000 qualified personnel since 1993, with an average of two per day? At a time when recruitment is at critical levels no less?
Could it be that 24 of our allied nations allow openly homosexual men to serve in their militaries and not one of them reports any difference in morale or order?
Could it be that there are approximately 64,000 gay men and women in the US military right now anyway, who are simply forced to keep it secret? Do they not deserve to be saluted as well?
In the end, it is a complicated issue, simply because of how many people are uncomfortable with the situation.

In the words of Mike Almy: "a former Air Force major, who was discharged from the Air Force in 2006 for violating the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy, says there is no merit to the argument that repealing the policy would hurt cohesiveness," and that "Everyone in the military today serves with someone that they are uncomfortable with for one reason or another. And the fact of the matter is they all have to be professionals. They all have to do their job and perform the mission and that's what makes them a professional military force, the greatest military in the world today. They get beyond those uncomfortable situations." ¹
Is the US military about comfort, or duty?
Can you respect a man who loves another man, and his country enough to die for it as the same time?
If bullets don't discriminate, why does the US government?
Why are so many men in the Military opposed to homosexuals being in their midst, when 41% of all women who enter the military are sexually harassed and/or raped? Double standard perhaps?

Should gays be allowed to serve openly?
no
Nope.
Yeah, there's no point as to why gays/lesbians cannot serve. They can fight as well as straight soldiers do.
I got this in an email...
It's not like gays have no self control. I'm straight and have slept in the same room as girls, it's not like it turned into a giant orgy.
Jesus christ, some people are so insecure.

I wouldnt want to have to worry about getting shot all day to come back to my base and worry about getting reamed in the shower

What's the point of even giving that information?

Gay people don't just wanna ass-ram every guy they see just like straight people don't wanna ass-ram every woman they see.
No, The military doesn't need any gays in the army.
lesbians im okay with :smug:
I think don't ask don't tell should be repealed, so gays can join the army openly. It doesn't fucking matter whether you like penis or vagina if you're willing put your life on the line for people who may not even support your sexuality.
Yes. A rule which states, "If one of the most defining facts of your personality and self becomes known you will be fired," is silly and cripplingly discriminatory, and shared within the UN only by Russia (Obama's czars come from here!) and China (Darn commies!).
Empirical evidence has shown that the abolishment of any discriminatory regulation on sexuality has not had any significant effect on armed forces across the globe.
The regulation is absurd and, really, I believe Obama is doing the right thing in moving to repeal it.
Yes, They are humans are they not? They should have equal rights. EVERYONE Should have equal rights. I vote yes.
No.
Its the same as having a guy coach a female volleyball team.
Incoming disagrees.
I think it should stay.
No.

Less than half of female sports team coaches at college level are female.
Basically: your point makes no sense and is totally irrelevant. You can't compare a situation in which people don't care about gender to a situation in which sexuality determines whether you can or can't have a particular career, unless you're purposely trying to invert my brain.
straight people don't wanna ass-ram every woman they see.
Uh...
Because, you know, homosexuals are cock-hungry devils, who want to steal your children and make them worship Satan.
Grow up.
(I think I voted the wrong thing, though)
Anyways, I say yes, because I trust my military to be trained enough. Marines especially. Every Marine's a fucking brother. EVERY. FUCKING. ONE.
No, I don't want some guy staring at me in the shower.

He'll do it even if he's not out of the closet.

Also, needs more FRUITY RUDY.

Yes but there is a lower chance of getting looked at when they ban openly gay people.

Also, wow. Almost 50/50.
That was a confusing question, I think gays should be allowed, what ever answer that would be.

Insecure cunts need to toughen up and face the world. No need to hide anything, and it would do wonders to your self-esteem.
As long as he doesn't touch my private anatomy or ask for sex I wouldn't care. Hell, I wouldn't give a shit if he was staring at me in the shower as long as he doesn't hit on me.
