• Sidestiches/cramps/aches. How to cure this menace?

We all probably get this at some point during our exercises especially during carido. In the middle of the run you could probably feel that sharp, annoying pain that shoots up on either your left or right side of your stomach and it hinders your performance. In the search online there has not been a definite cause but of course I may be wrong. What do you guys do to prevent these side stitches popping up in the middle of an exercise? Are there routines or certain foods that you could try to put a stop to this?
If our definition of "sidestiches" is the same, I'd say get over it. Keep running.
I can usually keep running with a stitch, although it totally takes away all the fun of the exercise, hunching over tends to help, but who wants to run hunched over? One could also regulate their breathing patterns to a more balanced level, which has been found to help. I've never found any decisive cure for stitches. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/health_and_fitness/4275830.stm BBC sport suggests: "Stop running completely and touch your toes." and/or "Pressure on the area will help to relieve the pain. Use your fingers to press firmly on the painful area." As for what causes them, it's usually caused by eating too much before your exercise, or an improper/no warmup. Hope this helps.
