What is something that you have done to make a positive change? Whether than be to the world, or some creatures life for example.
At risk of this sounding like bragging I'll still post first seeing as I'm OP. I want to make a good feels thread.
As often as I can, I like to go out to this awesome petting farm ran by a man whose house unfortunately burned down in recent years. It's awesome to visit the animals with exotic and unusual foods in hand, like bananas, kale, etc. The animals definitely show their appreciation, and it's amazing to see and experience. I do what I can for these creatures, especially in the winter, I have helped to do chores and electrical work around the farm and especially in this season helped to board up holes in the walls that let the wind in. My goal every time I go is to befriend a different creature and spend some time with them.
My girlfriend and I also bring gifts to help the farmer out and always give him more than he asks for, to help him on the road to getting a real home again and to help keep him and the animals in good health.
Love and peace
the biggest reason for why I joined the military was to make a positive impact on the world. I haven't really directly influenced anyone's life yet, but hopefully someday. I think about this too much, especially when people bring up how miniscule we humans can be when looking at the big picture. its been a big factor in the depression that I've had lately, and i feel like it will it only get worse as I get older.
Once I applied a current to a screwdriver and polarised it
I mean it was a negative change too but
Being a Comp Sci college student with not a lot of time on my hands, I didn't go out and help animals (though I would love to!)
I did however convince ~10 friends and acquaintances to learn about and use Folding@Home. TL;DR, it's a program that lets people "donate" resources from their computers to help Stanford University process a ton of simulations regarding diseases such as Alzheimers, certain Cancers, Dementia, and many more.
It felt good to walk by these other college students and see them running Folding@Home while they're watching YouTube videos and the like. I only got into it very recently, I'm glad I can even help marginally in curing some hard-to-understand diseases.
Next goal: Get more people to use the program, and also build myself a computer to just solely run Folding@Home on.
I registered myself as an organ donor today. Saw an article about how driverless cars means less car accidents, which means less donors will die. Not that I WANT to die, but just in case. Better that I help someone instead of being turned into worm food or incinerated. Maybe a cute med student will touch my heart.
After logging into medicare it was about 10 clicks total. Easiest contribution to society I've ever made
Less of a positive change towards others, more of a positive change to myself.
I decided to get off my butt and lose weight, went from 106kg (233 Pounds) to 85kg (187 Pounds) in 11 months.
I give blood whenever the blood donation guys are set up nearby, and if I have loose change on me I always give it to the first homeless person who asks.
I helped resolve an argument recently which got my sister to move back in with the parents since they were having a disagreement. I do "nice" things a lot but that topped it this year I reckon
My sister couldn't survive in the harsh scottish highlands :wavey:
I always try to treat people I meet with dignity and respect, might not be that of a huge thing but it's helped me befriend alot of people over the years and I certainly hope that it has a good effect on the people I meet.
I gave some homeless kid my coat before. Is that a good thing because I gave him my coat so he would not freeze to death or is it a bad thing because I made myself freeze while going to home due to me not having a coat?
registered as an organ donor
do my best and go out of my way to help people as a doctor
treat folks with dignity and respect regardless of where they come from
I feed strays and put out food for the local birds whenever I get a chance to (the crows and pigeons now recognize my voice and come flying when they hear me call after I put something in the bird feeders)
I go out of my way to help people with their problems in whatever way I can no matter what my mood or my personal feelings are like at the moment
and a fuck ton of shit ive done I probably dont even remember
I shitpost on the internet, if I'm lucky someone will find it entertaining
Registered as an organ donor
Donated money to several charities
Donated hair to Locks of Love, once giving over a foot of hair
Taking care of a kitten that was horribly neglected.
I work at a public library so I have to help people sometimes. I helped a little girl with her school project on Neil Armstrong the other day.
I prevented someone from committing suicide.
Also I've made my girlfriend a happier person. As corny as it is, both of us openly acknowledge that we would be so much worse off if we had never met each other, if we were still alive at all.
Donating one bag a week to a charity shop.
On the organ donation register.
I do at least 50% of my shopping in charity shops/thrift stores.
If I see a homeless person, if I have any food or non-alcoholic drink with me at the time, I give it to them.
In the process of growing my hair in order to donate it to The Little Princess Trust... Definitely going to be doing that this year!
we're constantly donating used clothes in-fine-condtion to the homeless and poor
I have signed up and been trained for volunteer first aiding and it's honestly the best decision I've made. I am still volunteering at a kids camp which I have been doing for a number of years now. Also, doing lots of charity work this year, and cannot wait! :D

I gotta ask, what did you do to succeed?

long story so here it goes. i was in my freshman year of highschool and i had always been kind of overweight but freshman year i gained a lot more weight then i ever had. idk my whole life until then i really never paid attention to or cared about how i dressed or looked until a situation occurred in one of my classes where we had assigned seating and this group of girls were complaining about having to sit next to someone so "fat and weird". They were joking about it so much one of them raised their hard and asked the teacher in front of the entire class if they could move because they didnt want to sit next to a "fat weird loner" even though i didnt even say amything. Most of the class laughed and joked and the teacher just nonchalantly said thats not a valid reason to move. i didnt have many friends at the time and i was kind of shy so this made me pretty depressed. i had to sit next to them and hear them talk about how i looked almost everyday. eventually idecided i didnt deserve the happiness from food anyways so i just became anorexic. at the same time i decided to dress different and random people started complimenting me and my cousin and a few other kids from my other classes said they were going to try to lose weight too since i looked so different they couldnt believe i was the same person. all in all it wasnt a very healthy thing to do to myself but looking back im glad some people found some inspiration from me to improve themselves i guess. since i was used to not eating many calories for an extended period of time, i feel like i have no attachment towards eating now so its pretty easy to keep the weight off
