Harley Quinn is no stranger to a little breaking and entering for a good time and now, she’s going to help one talented artist break into comics with DC Entertainment’s Open Talent Search. That’s right, we’re looking for someone to draw one page of HARLEY QUINN #0 alongside some of comic’s most amazing talents, including Amanda Conner, Paul Pope, Bruce Timm, and a few other surprises, maybe even you!! Beginning this November, Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner will be writing the madcap adventures of Harley Quinn and they’ll need all the help they can get to handle her, so they’re opening the invitation to one undiscovered talent to join them. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be published in this special issue, then put on your working hat and start drawing now, because an opportunity like this doesn’t come along very often. Submissions can be Pencils, Pencils & inks or Pencils, inks & colors. Please keep in mind, the level of your work should be of professional-quality, so don't feel the need to ink or color your work if you're only confident in penciling. Oh, and did we mention that we’ll be reviewing the submissions ourselves to personally select Harley Quinn’s new creative accomplice? Harley Quinn. One page. Published work. Breaking into comics was never this fun. ;) — Jim & Dan Here’s how to enter: Read the rules & regulations listed below to confirm that you are eligible to enter DC Entertainment’s Open Talent Search and agree to the terms and conditions. Read the following script page and give us your original artistic interpretation of what those four panels should look like on a single page: PAGE 15 4 panels PANEL 1 Harley is on top of a building, holding a large DETACHED cellphone tower in her hands as lightning is striking just about everywhere except her tower. She is looking at us like she cannot believe what she is doing. Beside herself. Not happy. PANEL 2 Harley is sitting in an alligator pond, on a little island with a suit of raw chicken on, rolling her eyes like once again, she cannot believe where she has found herself. We see the alligators ignoring her. PANEL 3 Harley is sitting in an open whale mouth, tickling the inside of the whale’s mouth with a feather. She is ecstatic and happy, like this is the most fun ever. PANEL 4 Harley sitting naked in a bathtub with toasters, blow dryers, blenders, appliances all dangling above the bathtub and she has a cord that will release them all. We are watching the moment before the inevitable death. Her expression is one of “oh well, guess that’s it for me” and she has resigned herself to the moment that is going to happen.
Source Well I always did prefer marvel, holy fucking shit
can they ever stop fetishising her holy shit
Uhh, hot, I think? [editline]12th September 2013[/editline] probably not
what the fuck
but deviantart already did this a billion times
For a moment I thought DC meant Washington, not comics, and I was wondering how something that usually might destroy a career would earn a guy one.
I really don't like DC for shit like this it seems so common with them
I'll stick to Judge Anderson and her mindfucking capabilities thank you very much.
I think Tom's got the right idea [t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/252/9/a/syac_harley1_by_tompreston-d6lqh37.jpg[/t][t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/253/7/6/syac_harley2_by_tompreston-d6lqzlz.jpg[/t][t]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/253/f/2/syac___injustice_by_tompreston-d6ltbqe.jpg[/t]
This sounds like something Shadman would've done. Not that I would ever know what Shadman does.
[t]http://puu.sh/4py2N.png[/t] this is my show of skill

Good for him?
but deviantart already did this a billion times
yeah but this requires actual paper and pencil/ink.
Well I guess they use this to filter out sensitive people, although DC really has been fetishisizing Harley in a extremely disturbing fashion. And I mean disturbing as in even The Joker would be concerned. THAT bad.
I think Tom's got the right idea [t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/252/9/a/syac_harley1_by_tompreston-d6lqh37.jpg[/t][t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/253/7/6/syac_harley2_by_tompreston-d6lqzlz.jpg[/t][t]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/253/f/2/syac___injustice_by_tompreston-d6ltbqe.jpg[/t]
So why is Tom presenting himself as a carebear? Like the comic is good for once but uhhh
So why is Tom presenting himself as a carebear? Like the comic is good for once but uhhh
Because some people bitched about his comics in some form or another, and he figured it'd be the biggest middle finger possible. I'd say it isn't working since no one gives a shit.
So why is Tom presenting himself as a carebear? Like the comic is good for once but uhhh
I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe he's wanting a character that is less obviously a mary sue version of his real self. Also yeah, the comic was actually good for once
heard about this, I REALLY want to see if they carry this through to the end, and what the hell they were planning to come of these images
I think Tom's got the right idea [t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/252/9/a/syac_harley1_by_tompreston-d6lqh37.jpg[/t][t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/253/7/6/syac_harley2_by_tompreston-d6lqzlz.jpg[/t][t]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/253/f/2/syac___injustice_by_tompreston-d6ltbqe.jpg[/t]
when did dobson turn into a bear
I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe he's wanting a character that is less obviously a mary sue version of his real self. Also yeah, the comic was actually good for once
everything he does has a blatant self insert, and to be honest I don't think it was too bad with his actual self looking dude, this is just weird though
Despite the fact the main character isn’t really me, people seem to really want him to be drawn how I look in real life. Therefor the character will henceforth be drawn as a Care Bear for all future strips.
[t]http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/121/c/4/syac_bear_by_tompreston-d63oq0a.jpg[/t] but we're getting off topic Perhaps it is just a way of weaning out the untalented/squeamish artists or perhaps they're planning on killing Quinn off, so they want ideas
or perhaps they're planning on killing Quinn off, so they want ideas
I could maybe understand if it was just to guage how creative can you be and how well can you draw the human form, maaaybe if they described it like "oh harley you so crazy" pinup gags instead of "hey draw a set of comic panels" like it's leading somewhere
Ivy is way hotter.
Ivy is way hotter.
Selina Kyle begs to differ
Ivy is way hotter.
talk shit about Harley again mate I dare you
You're all wrong, it's that assistant from that one Batman: TAS episode with the woman that looked like a little girl.
but deviantart already did this a billion times
google images doesn't count
What did the Joker die or something? If that was the case the whole "kill herself in extreme ways" is a Harley thing to do.
Jolly jack on dA did a good submission [thumb]http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/254/b/e/quinnicide_by_jollyjack-d6lv7xv.jpg[/thumb]
What did the Joker die or something? If that was the case the whole "kill herself in extreme ways" is a Harley thing to do.
Ya i'm not sure why people are making this out to be such a big deal. Harley and Joker basically define "morbid humour", and this could be interpreted as such.
What did the Joker die or something? If that was the case the whole "kill herself in extreme ways" is a Harley thing to do.
Joker was alive during Forever Evil's issue one release, I dunno if things have changed now though. Also, PR Control incoming:
Last week, DC Comics announced an open talent search to work on Harley Quinn by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. It didn’t go over well. Artists were asked to draw one script page consisting of four panels, the last of which included an image of Harley naked in the bathtub and apparently committing suicide. The page was meant to be “meta” and tongue-in-cheek, explained the creators and the publisher, but criticism has persisted for six days. This morning, Palmiotti took to his Facebook page in another hope to get the situation under control. “That the tryout Harley Quinn page went out without an overall description of tone and dialogue is all my fault,” Palmiotti wrote. “I should have put it clearly in the description that it was supposed to be a dream sequence with Amanda and I talking to Harley and giving her a hard time. I should have also mentioned we were thinking a Mad magazine /Looney Tunes approach was what we were looking for. We thought it was obvious with the whale and chicken suit, and so on, but learned it was not. I am sorry for those who took offense, our intentions were always to make this a fun and silly book that broke the 4th wall, and head into issue 1 with a ongoing story/adventure that is a lot like the past Power Girl series we did. I hope all the people thinking the worst of us can now understand that insulting or making fun of any kind was never our intention. I also hope that they can all stop blaming DC Comics for this since It was my screw up. The idea for the page to find new talent is an amazing one and we hope that can be the positive that comes forward from today on…that we get some new talent working in our field because of this unique opportunity.” Whether it will help defuse the situation remains to be seen yet but for many, Palmiotti and Conner are the part that hold the whole thing together, so for Palmiotti to shift blame off the publisher may help. “For the record, hard to respect anyone in comics more than Jimmy Palmiotti,” tweeted Mark Waid late last night at the close of a long conversation between himself and a number of other comics creators regarding the controversy.
Source.
I'm sure Pierre Bernard would be happy to take the job.
