It’s Energy Week!
And President Donald Trump is set to give remarks before the Department of Energy Thursday afternoon, at the “Unleashing American Energy” event at 3:15 PM
Trump’s speech comes a day after a simpler time, when Energy Secretary Rick Perry delighted the White House press corps with a jovial performance at the press room podium.

i feel like you've been drinking the Trump Koolaid™ too much, nuclear hasn't budged a bit under bush or obama and just because he's wearing smart person glasses, does not mean Perry will suddenly kick start the industry to build hundreds of nukes, nor will trump's fucking pen, only a large piece of legislation from congress COULD have an impact and fat chance seeing any of that this year as pointed out in other threads, they gotta get healthcare tax reform a debt ceiling lift and a budget done by mid september in that order with one month of time left in legislature. the omnibus infastructure bill everybody has been talking about is a pipe dream this year, probably even next year since the house election will basically dominate 2018

how is this your take away
how is this your take away
because most Trump supporters hear what they want to hear.
sorry, dude. Not really buying his statements about coal. He's proven again and again that he makes vaguely reassuring statements about topics that won't directly profit him or his allies, and then ends up ditching those statements to go with the method/path that is best for him and his ally's pocketbooks (and/or the alt-right agenda)

He has the chance to personally benefit
He has the chance to personally benefit
ya but where I work we're going to seriously benefit from massive military spending binges but i'm not out cheerleading for it when it comes at the expense of everything else in this country

Like I've said: He uses vague wording and double-speak to make statements that could mean anything but explicitly state nothing. No person of his character should have that power.

to be fair i think a true push for nuclear would benefit the country quite a bit
Trump's written remarks here. On energy development
Today, I am proudly announcing six brand-new initiatives to propel this new era of American energy dominance. First, we will begin to revive and expand our nuclear energy sector -- which I’m so happy about -- which produces clean, renewable and emissions-free energy. A complete review of U.S. nuclear energy policy will help us find new ways to revitalize this crucial energy resource. And I know you're very excited about that, Rick.
Second, the Department of the Treasury will address barriers to the financing of highly efficient, overseas coal energy plants. Ukraine already tells us they need millions and millions of metric tons right now. There are many other places that need it, too. And we want to sell it to them, and to everyone else all over the globe who need it.
Third, my administration has just approved the construction of a new petroleum pipeline to Mexico, which will further boost American energy exports, and that will go right under the wall, right? It’s going under, right? (Laughter and applause.) Have it go down a little deeper in that one section. You know, a little like this. Right under the wall.
Fourth, just today, a major U.S. company, Sempra Energy, signed an agreement to begin negotiations for the sale of more American natural gas to South Korea. And, as you know, the leaders of South Korea are coming to the White House today, and we've got a lot of discussion to do. But we will also be talking about them buying energy from the United States of America, and I’m sure they’ll like to do it. They need it. Thank you. (Applause.)

Fifth, the United States Department of Energy is announcing today that it will approve two long-term applications to export additional natural gas from the Lake Charles LNG terminal in Louisiana. It’s going to be a big deal. It’s a great announcement.
Finally, in order to unlock more energy from the 94 percent of offshore land closed to development, under the previous administration, so much of our land was closed to development. We're opening it up, the right areas, but we're opening it up -- we’re creating a new offshore oil and gas leasing program. America will be allowed to access the vast energy wealth located right off our shores. And this is all just the beginning -- believe me.
Priority number one seems to be deregulation, followed by natural gas and petroleum, followed by coal. His remarks represent one step forward and three steps back, in my opinion. But I'm happy for your job security.

Clearly you're different people with different priorities
