I've had a particular problem for a while involving certain games' server browsers. Whenever I'd use the "Find server" option and use the server browser, it would often "reset" my connection in a way, making it unable to find any servers or, for that matter, connect to the internet. I've dealt with it for a while, but it's getting kind of ridiculous now. For a while I thought it was just Valve/Source games, such as TF2, CSS, and Gmod. Eventually, I discovered it also happened in Killing Floor, and, most recently, Red Orchestra 2 (Or it's current beta). This has led me to theorize that it relates to Steamworks, especially since other games with server browsers often work fine (Battlefield games, Jedi Knight, etc.)
Has anyone had a similar issue, particularly for Steamworks games? I'd really like to play the games I bought online.
Your router is being overloaded by all the connections at once, what router is it? You may be able to flash a better firmware on it like Tomato or DD-WRT.
It's a Belkin N+. I just updated the firmware to try, actually, and tried a Cafe setting in registry that a friend suggested. Still nothing, though. The advice of Steam support would be buying a new router. Well, shit. Any other ideas?
