Haven't seen any swimming threads lately, so why not? I started since i was 9, took a 10 year break and went back at it again. Post your times, favorite strokes, drills/exercises, etc..
This summer I was bored at the beach so I started swimming. My max distance was 4km(2x2km with a break). I didn't measure my time when I got fit, but when I first tried swimming for longer distances it took me 35min for 1.5km. I think I could go way under 30min at the end of the summer(plus if I wore Speedos I would be like a boat, but I am uncomfortable in those :P). Edit: Oh yea, competitive... there is a 2 km swimming competition held in the nearby town. I would like to take part in it next summer.
Just returned from club here's what i did: 800m I.M. 5x600m free w/pull buoy 50m fly sprint (39.4s) 50m free sprint (37.2s)
I only really know my PB for 50 free (28-27 ish seconds), but I keep somehow winning 50 back, so it must be pretty decent.
Favorite Events: 100m Back: 1:08 ~ 50m Free:28 s 50m Fly:33 s ~
This is the best: http://whatshouldswimmerscallme.tumblr.com/ I just swim for fitness now, although I'd like to do it competitively some day. I do around 2,500 yards in <45 mins on a good day.
I haven't swam professionally for a while. Makes me wish i could start it up again
What's holding you back? Yesterday's routine: 1600m I.M. (800 full, 800 legs only) -yippie! 800m free w/pull buoy 400m breast drill (x2 dolphin kick) 50m breast sprint (37s)
Update: 1:05 100 Back made state
