Citizen Kane 70th Anniversary Collector's Edition DVD Box Set

So today I bought myself the Citzen Kane 70th Anniversary Collector's Edition DVD Box Set, and I must say, I have no regrets. At all. From the moment I saw it in the store, I fell in love. And the price is amazing, only $41.32 CAD (NS tax included). It includes not only a restored version of the film, but also the 1995 documentary "The Battle for Citizen Kane" and the 1999 Emmy award winning film "RKO 281". The set also contains a 48 page book with storyboards and other behind the scenes goodies, a 20 page 1941 souvenir program reproduction, 10 reproductions of studio memos and correspondence, and 5 lobby card reproductions. Special features on the main film DVD include separate commentaries by Roger Ebert and Peter Bogdanovich, interviews with Ruth Warrick and Robert Wise, premier newsreel, stills gallery and much more. It's an amazing box set. Any true film fan should own this set.
So here's a question: Have you bought it? If so, did you like it?
If you don't have it, be sure to run out and get it today. You won't regret it.
That sounds awesome, I'd buy it but I'm saving my money for Skyrim at the moment.
Could you post some pictures of the extras like the lobby cards and programme, please?

Certainly. Just give me a few minutes.

It'll be a little while yet. I'd guess about 5-10 minutes.

Alright, the photos didn't show up on Facepunch for some reason, so just visit the Photobucket album here: http://s1138.photobucket.com/albums/n530/smithy69fp/
They say this is "the greatest film of all time"
They also said 2001: A Space Odyssey was good (and it was boring)
What's your opinion on the actual film?

The film is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the greatest film ever, but it's in my top 5. Orson Welles was great, especially considering the fact that he plays the role throughout many different times in life from age 25-80, which at the time was unbelievable. If you don't get this collector's edition, you have to at least own a copy of this film in some form. It's just amazing.
oh, ONLY $40 dollars?
What's your point?
What was it made of, gold?
I don't know, most DVDs around here go for about 25 dollars as far as special editions go.
I guess you'd have to be a pretty big fan to buy it for the money it's going for.
Did you not read what it contains or look at my Photobucket album? It's totally worth it.
I love the film to death, but I'm probably not gonna shell out 40 bucks for this. Maybe on blu-ray when it gets cheaper.

I suppose, but look at my scenario:
I was in the store, and I had planned on buying some Microsoft points, but I decided to browse a bit first. So I'm looking and I see this beautiful box set. I double-taked there. The first thing to pop into my mind was "Holy shit, 70 years? Already?" and then I saw the price. I had enough. So I grabbed it and went up to the counter with it. Me being 14, the cashier was surprised to see I had an interest in it, but he sold it to me and I bought it and now I'm a happy motherfucker.
TL;DR I picked Citizen Kane 70th Anniversary over Microsoft points.
Fun fact: the film is actually about William Randolph Hearst and "rosebud" was the nickname of his mistress' clitoris

I didn't know that. Thank you for that wonderful fact.
Hey check out Roger Ebert's commentary for a very interesting look at the film.

I plan on it.
Isn't Citizen Kane his favorite film?
Yes, yes it is.

Yeah I think so, although I do recall him saying he doesn't really like to put up just one movie as "the best" or "the greatest" but he does have his ever growing list of Great Films which are a series of essays on movies that are very fun to read.

DAMMIT. i knew about the spoiler, and i told myself not to click on it, a i click on it. I remember the episode of family guy that spoiled the movie legitimately for me however.
on topic: I have only heard good things about this movie, i picked up the blu-ray copy a few days ago, i'm hoping to get to it this weekend. :v:

That was a great episode.
And congratulations on buying the Blu-ray. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
