• Tried to install WinXP, internet won't work

I recently tested out WinXP on VirtualBox today. It worked perfectly fine, so I decided to install it as a downgrade from Win7(I have my own reasons for doing this). When I installed it, however, the internet was not working. I checked my modem and the Ethernet light was off, but all the other lights(DSL, Power, Internet) was solid green. Putting in the installation disc does not help either. Since the internet wasn't working, and I couldn't boot up my still intact Win7 partition, I installed my old Ubuntu 9.4 disc, which still refuses to show the Windows 7 partition. Any ideas?
Not a solution i'm afraid, but if it's any consolation, i had a similar issue when i downgraded. I could get the interenet from installing the driver however. However (again) this i had to do on EVERY boot up. Turn on, install driver, internet worked. Became ballache, then my hardrive packed in anyway.. fml. Back on vista now because i can't be bothered with the hassle.
You need the network driver for your motherboard. Find another computer, a flash drive or cd, and your motherboard model. Download the correct drivers from the motherboards' website and put it on the flash drive or cd, and transfer the files over from the flash drive or cd onto windows xp. Windows xp does not support install and surf internet like windows 7, so you need to manually add drivers or at least get the network driver in and install other drivers like graphics, sound ect
Why would you even consider downgrading to a 10 year operating system? On a side note, it's driver issues, happens a lot with XP.
