Is Facepunch dying out? - General

Even though I haven't been around as much as some of you, it has become strangely apparent me that Facepunch is dying. This is especially apparent in the "Valve Games and Mods" section where there were once tons of updates and comments but now it usually comes to a comment or two a day on a thread.And Google trends isn't really telling us otherwise: [img]http://www.google.com/trends/viz?q=facepunch&date=all&geo=all&graph=weekly_img&sort=0&sa=N[/img] I'm just concerned that this Forums is becoming nothing but a shell of what it once was.

Doubt it, with the increase in PC gamers, we'll probably boost throughout this year. I'll never leave though, regardless of popularity of FP. Too good to leave :v:

Maybe it's changing but look at fast threads + general games discussion, they are still very lively. Does that graph refer to only the section stated in the OP? If so, one section dying =/= a whole forum dying.

I haven't noted any particular rise or fall over the time I've been here. Valve games and mods section isn't exactly a good section to measure off anyway, there's no Valve games that are being released any time soon so there's nothing to talk about.

Looking at the graph it appears to be a very slow death with sudden rises. But I have felt that even place s like fast threads are dieing.

As others said Valve Games and Mods section is slowing down obviously but that does not sum up the entire forum. Valve hasn't released a game in a while and the modding scene on the source engine is of course fading just due to new engines and new and better things to mod. FP is very lively, especially in many other sections of the forum.

I had more fun on facepunch back in the day but the whole growing up thing might be a factor.

Facepunch is still probably the most populated website I go to. Granted, I have an SA account, but I really don't visit there as often as FP.

The forums are alive, just some areas are more active then others.

If it continues like this, I wonder how that chart will look like in, say, 20 years?

The Witness The Fitness sub-forum barely has anyone. Along with some of the other hobbies sub-forums. LMAO pics on the other hand..

Your graph only shows searches for facepunch on google rather than hits on the website. Probably the reason Valve Games and Mods are dying is because valve hasn't made shit in the recent years.

Forums are still going strong.

There are 6194 users on right now. I know forums that are ridiculously active with only 1000 members in total.

Got worse after the forum layout change and the major section removal.

But isn't this just hits from when somebody clicks on Facepunch in Google/searches for it? Don't people type it in the address bar?

Once HL3 gets released (*cough*) and/or Garry's Mod is updated to the very newest engine version (*even more coughing*) it will rocket back up, I guess.
