http://i29.tinypic.com/j5gzex.jpg OKAY, So. You might be wondering WHY I'd be taking these out in the first place. I'm taking my old ass computer apart and I'm going to dust it, and put it back together, and HOPEFULLY start using it as an "WHENMYDADISONTHEMAINPC,ILLBEONTHISONE" computer (also to learn how building computers works) So please tell me what they do, and if putting them in a SPECIFIC order would matter... :< ALSO: Before: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2dthrs&s=3 After: I haven't gottent his far.
Do you have an external lights on your case, or perhaps sound or USB ports on the front? If so, they probably go to those. Those aren't NECESSARY, but I'd recommend plugging them back in.
Yes I do, anyways, what about the order? Is it specific?
Probably for everything on the front panel. Power button, reset button, power light, hdd activity light, ect. My case came with guides so I could plug them in in the right order but afaik they should be plugged back in in the same order, so I suggest taking pictures for reference. [editline]05:22PM[/editline] I mean better safe then sorry.
I'm taking notes and stuff as I go, so I will be sure to do that.
In the first image you posted, those are the USB headers on the motherboard, I'm not sure why your case has individual-pin connectors though. Don't mix those up, or you'll likely fry any USB devices you plug into it afterwards. I've had a mouse melt from reversing the power leads and accidentally sending it -5v.
I'm not sure why your case has individual-pin connectors though.
Is that a huge surprise? I've seen lots of older cases like that.
Don't mix those up, or you'll likely fry any USB devices you plug into it afterwards. Inverting GND and VCC will not damage anything in theory, but the device will simply not work unless you plug it in correctly. Not sure how you fried your mouse, but I am quite positive inverting it was not the cause.
yes order matters, if you're building a new computer the motherboard will come with a guide on where the connectors from that case or your new case go

Or is it? I can't tell... not the best picture in the world. Probably just the front panel buttons and lights. Yes order definitely matters.
Looks like Front Panel or USB headers to me >_>
Looks like Front Panel or USB headers to me >_>
Because it is.
It is USB. Ground, D-, D+, Power.
Wrong. It's GND, D+, D-, VCC
