Microsoft shares hit by biggest sell-off since 2000
Microsoft Corp shares fell more than 12 percent on Friday, their biggest plunge in 13 years, a day after the software company posted dismal quarterly results due to weak demand for its latest Windows system and poor sales of its Surface tablet.
Friday's loss means about $36 billion (£23.6 billion) has been wiped off Microsoft's market value in one day, exceeding the size of rival Yahoo Inc.
Now is a good time to buy some MS stocks
Good riddance.
Windows 8 is terrible.

What's wrong with it?

Microsoft's stocks have always been around where they are now since 1999-2000, probably not the best idea.

Windows 8 isn't terrible: Metro is. Just install a start menu button, disable hot corners and you've basicly got a better version of windows 7, plus you never even have to enter the metro menu.
Another giant slowly sinking, jeez.

Why always bringing W8? It's really not that bad. Vista was 10 times worse.
Like i said before, why didnt they just optimize win7 but add more useful features. My mom recently got win 8 and she didnt know how to do jackshit for abit compared to the other OSs. Its literally alienating both casual and hardcore userbases.

It's the exact same as Windows 7, but prettier. It still has the same practicality, philosophy, and productivity that the old Start Menu had. I find it's best experienced with multiple Windows 8 computers, I love it with the Three computers + Windows Tablet I use daily.

Hardcore userbases already use win 8.
There's no reason not to switch to it. I would, but I can't be arsed to do it now, pretty lazy.
I never used the start menu for anything other than searching anyway, which Windows 8 does just the same. Hit windows key, type the start of the name of what I need, enter. The windows 8 start screen is nice because I can quickly see if I got mail, look at weather, etc.

I won't switch because it brings nothing to the table desktop wise, if there was a new major Directx revision I would probably get it when I get a new GPU but there just isn't.

The two totally disjointed halves that are classic windows and the Metro UI.
Change for chage's sake is almost never a good thing. (ie 3D TV's)

It has no place in a business setting, it really hinders productivity and costs the business time/money

They made it a tablet OS for PC's

I work at a 4000+ employee software development firm, and pretty much all the devs use and love Windows 8.
Whoops.
Your anecdotal evidence is just that.
Especially when there is an article right in the OP saying that Windows 8 is not meeting sales targets and is not up to expectations.
No shit, that's been explained hundreds of times (hint = iterative update). The point is that there are people who actually like Windows 8 and just because some neckbeard on Facepunch doesn't, doesn't suddenly make the product unequivocally terrible.

it hinders productivity by making boot times faster, automatically installing drivers faster and letting you search for apps using only the keyboard more efficiently???
If powershell ran over SSH I'd consider it, but its pretty damn crippled at the moment.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you've never even used Windows 8

Do all 4000+ employees get to choose their OS
Do all 4000+ employees get to choose their OS
They could if they were technically apt to do so, but critical members like sales, support, etc are not. Also, not all devs use Win 8 on their work machines, but personal.
Also why is it that in every fucking MS thread there's a huge shitstorm of people saying they don't want to switch to it vs a bunch of people vehemently defending it?? So what if someone else has a different opinion than you on an OS??? or anything for that matter
Sony loses shares: Friendly ratings
Microsoft loses shares: Winner ratings
I like how Microsoft just lost over 2.5 Yahoo's worthy of value. I think every company should be valued in Yahoo's.

People have a hard time finding things minutes cost dollars, spread over a large company it adds up. IT SUCKS in a VDI environment, seriously without a 3d party app to disable metro it sucks.
Boot times are negligable at this point as most computers in business settings are running few applications and settings drivers are updated VIA WSUS or GPO's done at off hours.

I think the reason is because people have strange reasons to hate things. Like the "it hinders productivity" argument makes no sense, so naturally that makes people angry and defensive.
This Microsoft hate train is ridiculous, tbh.
