help me, i'm working a lot in a Gmod movie, but unfortunately for some reason fraps doesn't work...
when i press the record button (i changed it to F8) the screen freezes for few seconds, with red FPS numbers (like it was recording) and then the numbers turn yellow for less than a second and dissapear.
when i exit Gmod, fraps has shutted down... I think it's a directX problem, because i had to put "dx level 81" in launch options in order to make Gmod work...
BUT i also tried fraps with HL2 Dm (which hasn't any launch options set) and there's the same problem.
I use a full version of fraps, and i play in a windows vista basic laptop.
in my old xp computer fraps works nice, but here i can't use it :(
HELP please, and don't tell me to use source demo recorder cause that's too complicated for me :P
Make sure you are using the right key to record.
Get a better PC if you have to use DX8 to get gmod to run
Are you sure you have enough disc space? Movies use a lot of harddrive space.
Don't tell him or he'll make shitty ragdoll poses movies.

is anybody going to help?
Get a better computer
or
Use source recorder (google)
It's pretty hard to troubleshoot something like this.
try running the client in windowed mode and the lowest resolution, set fraps to half quality and disable audio recording..before you ask why
this is to see if your machine is capable dumping very large files without timing out...sometimes 5400rpm drives can get overwhelmed when more than 1 intensive operation with data transfer is taking place...which would be the high quality fraps vid + gmod/cache/heap management
if that works, step it up little by little, starting with enabling audio, if it works, step resolution up to 800x600, etc
if you do have on board audio+video..i can't say that's a great combination for recording..but it's not impossible either, i feel bad when people say "get a new machine" haha...it's like saying go...fraps yourself....good luck :]

Source Recorder would lag even more.
Source Recorder would lag even more.
But the outputted video will be perfectly smooth.
i tried it... but fraps still crashes
also, i think the windows firewall is blovking it somehow, i dont know how to deactivate it... the fraps icon has a small shield on right bottom, and everytime i run it windows ask me for permisson
