"A BBC investigation suggests companies are wasting large sums of money on adverts to gain "likes" from Facebook members who have no real interest in their products." No shit.
i see facebook adverts pop up all the time for the most mundane useless shit, the other day it was for some teenage girl's makeup blog. then a pop singer with 50 likes- it's no wonder on top of this that when fake profiles arise, vast amounts of money are being wasted somewhere in the world
"A BBC investigation suggests companies are wasting large sums of money on adverts to gain "likes" from Facebook members" They could've stopped the sentence right there.
I wish Facebook would die. Simply put.
I wish Facebook would die. Simply put.
Honestly, it has some good aspects to it. Keeping up with your friends is a GOOD thing believe it or not. But I will give it to you, that its annoying as fuck to constantly see "LIEK US ON FAECBOOK" everywhere, and that a lot of people just post the most annoying shit all over the place.
I wish Facebook would die. Simply put.
Um, why? It's a convenient method of communication. People just jump on this Facebook-hate bandwagon for no discernible reason. Yeah, it can be annoying, and yeah, it has its problems, but why do you want it to "die"? Is it actively hurting you?
Do you want 2OOO+ friend requests!? Then rate me agree!
Just implement a capcha that people have to enter once every few weeks and bam you've just disabled 99% of all fakes.

I think my negative attitude towards it comes from the user-base of morons who live by the Facebook, making it seem more important than actually going out and getting liked as opposed to getting "likes". The irony being I do use the thing often.
And you don't need a service from a company that corrupt to do that. They don't care at all about anyone's privacy. There's hundreds of thousands of other ways to keep in touch besides Facebook. Hell the privacy reasons are the #2 reason why I refuse to use it. I value my privacy...alarmingly I'm in a minority it seems, most of the time I get told "I don't have anything to hide so I don't care if they look". Which is scary. ....The #1 reason is all the inane shit that gets spammed everywhere, which you touched on already.
marketing departments are like a hotbed of stupid
Lik dis is ur aginst domestik violins. WANT 1000 FRIEND REQUESTS? SHARE DIS STATUS AND COMMENT! But yeah Facebook is convenient for keeping in touch with friends. I hardly use it for something other than that. I'm sure it's not too hard to ignore all that stuff. Except when some fucker posts a picture of a dog with a bloody face, asking for likes and shares and stuff. Fuck off.
One thing that I don't like about Facebook is the images of children who have been in terrible accidents and they are posted on the Internet just for attention and friends. Like those images of starving african children and people ask for likes because of the image content.

I like it because it's almost as reliable to facebook message someone as it is to text them now.
1000 requests? You're exaggerating too much, guys. I don't get requests from people I don't know and those who send me requests are some younger people from my former school that I only remember by their faces, not even names... And even then I turn their requests down and it's more like twice per month.

"Likes" are highly valued by many leading brands' marketing departments. Why, how? I can't belive how a friggin like be that important for someone.
"Likes" are highly valued by many leading brands' marketing departments. Why, how? good thing i never made a facebook account in the first place.
Facebook 'like' adverts tested with VirtualBagel experiment. That explain it pretty well, what's going on. Also quite interesting to watch.
They need to create a way to ban the people who post a picture of a kid with cancer and then ask for likes. If i was the one with cancer i'd find it so fucking disrespectful that people would be posting your picture to boost their own ego / popularity
