• Massive French Airbus A-380's tail bumps Passenger Jet

[release]
NEW YORK (NBC) -- The National Transportation Safety Board is trying to determine what caused two jets to collide at New York's JFK International Airport Monday evening. An Air France Airbus A-380 filled with just over 500 passengers and crew members clipped the tail of a Delta Comair regional jet with 66 people on board. No one on board either plane was injured. Investigators say the giant Airbus A-380 was taxiing for take-off to Paris; the Delta Comair flight had just landed from Boston and was waiting on a ramp way. Ground traffic controllers at JFK were directing the planes. Former pilot and aviation safety expert John Cox called the wing clip a rare event and says investigators will be focusing on the ground control instructions and other key factors. "Was there adequate clearance between the taxi-way and the ramp area for an aircraft of A-380 size to be taxiing by at that time?" he asks. The double-decker super-jumbo A-380 has quickly become the long-haul choice for air carriers since making its first commercial flight in 2007, but it's massive size has also created challenges for airports.
[/release] TL;DR, giant plane hits smaller plane on the runway. Tailhook'd.
Soul plane collides with airbus? YESSSSS
Holy crap.
Nice one, France. Always blame the French.
I love how it just flings it around like it's a toy. I would've crapped my pants. Glad no one was injured though.
I'm sure this thread will take off soon, don't worry. [editline]12th April 2011[/editline] I tried.
I watched the video to see planes crashing full speed in the air not a get little scratch on the back.
aaaaaa
that would look so awesome irl
Read the title, thought two planes collided in midair, then realized how ridiculous and unlikely that sounded in my mind. Christ, that must've been frightening for the the people on board both planes.
Must have been SO terrifying. I saw this on the news but didn't think anyone was on it.
Must have been SO terrifying. I saw this on the news but didn't think anyone was on it.
So as I was saying about your presentatio- BUSADIFNDSPFKJSLGNOPISOGUND- WHAT THE SHIT.
Wow, nice attention grabbing title. This is Facepunch, why don't you just make a simple title that tells the content for what it is.
Never noticed how misleading the title was until Time Itself posted.
Never noticed how misleading the title was until Time Itself posted.
So you didn't read the article?
So you didn't read the article?
I did. The plane did infact collide with the smaller plane. However, it does sound as if the planes collided mid-air.
What the flying fuck, how does this happen?
What the flying fuck, how does this happen?
Parking issues wingspan
Holy shit those things are fucking durable. The wing clipped the edge of the tail fin, and instead of breaking it, it swung the whole plane around.
Holy shit those things are fucking durable. The wing clipped the edge of the tail fin, and instead of breaking it, it swung the whole plane around.
Just what I was thinking, those things are stout as shit.
jesus the thread title made me think this was a midair collision. damn good thing it wasn't [editline]12th April 2011[/editline]
Holy shit those things are fucking durable. The wing clipped the edge of the tail fin, and instead of breaking it, it swung the whole plane around.
why do you think flying is the safest form of transportation?
Aren't pilots supposed to know how to fly/taxi the planes they're hired to?
I'm sure this thread will take off soon, don't worry. [editline]12th April 2011[/editline] I tried.
Your joke was a little turbulent.
Aren't pilots supposed to know how to fly/taxi the planes they're hired to?
They do know, just the control tower forgot to tell them or something
Big plane smacked up dat lil plane... ...it did drag it quite violently though. Late pun: It was plane to see what he was doing wrong...
Big plane smacked up dat lil plane... ...it did drag it quite violently though. Late pun: It was plane to see what he was doing wrong...
That was as dumb as your title.
That was as dumb as your title.
Nice opinion!
I would not want to fly on a plane with those same pilots
why do they always include 1fps "slow-motion" like we didn't see the impact?
