~Trendy~ - New cell phone case is attracting police attention
Law enforcement agencies are warning consumers not to buy a new cell phone case that resembles a gun.
The case has a handle attached that when placed in a pocket makes it appear that a weapon is tucked into the pants.
Its like peoples common sense has gone out of the window. Hate to say this but who wants to take a bet that someone gets shot over this?

I can't wait to hear about some dumbass bringing this to school
Jesus christ, Someone is going to get shot over these.
It's going to become a fad in schools I bet, It looks really REALLY uncomfortable to hold.
You'd deserve to get shot for this fashion crime.
Does this mean we would really have Fashion Police?
tbh if you buy this for the sole purpose of confusing people then you deserve anything that happens to you because of it.
And let's be honest, there's no other reason to buy it other than to mislead others.
Perfect example of why "because I can" doesn't mean you should.

No that can easily be misidentified as a weapon and as such, if you bring it into a stupid situation and get shot its most likely your fault
Anyone who buys this deserves no sympathy for whatever occurs to them. That thing is a bullet magnet.

They'll be fine if they're white.
I've had come into my store before wearing this -

- on their back. It puts quite a scare into you, at first, if you're not paying careful attention. I can understand where the police are coming from, here, wanting to discourage people from using these sorts of things.
It's not so much a bullet magnet as it is unwanted attention magnet. If someone decides to rob a place and sees that hanging out of your back pocket just before they do, good luck. Also, be prepared to be stopped by the police as people call to tattle on you. Especially if it's a conceal carry only state

I just cant see anyone other than weaboos carrying this shit, seriously.
The problem with this is when the kids who buy these get shot for having them, the headlines are going to read "police shoot unarmed teen after he reached for his cellphone" not "police officers shoot subject after reaching for phone case modeled to look like pistolgrip"
in the states, anyway

If the police are trying to carry out an arrest or a questioning and a person starts to reach for something, they do not get the luxury of "wait and see" because it takes no time at all for "wait and see" to turn in to "crawl to safety and call for paramedics." If you're just being questioned then they'll likely just ask you to keep your hands out of your pockets, but if they're trying to make an arrest, they'll probably draw on you. And if they've already drawn, you'll get a very noticeable warning unless you're very suddenly reaching for your pocket in which case you'll likely get shot. If you start suddenly reaching for your pocket when the police are involved, the escalation is exponential, not linear.

It's good to see some folks still have reasonable perspectives and understanding on police safety procedures and stuff.
I'm familiar with police procedural, I'm trained on UoF and such and you're mostly spot on, except reaching for anything that looks like a gun while a cop is talking to you or someone near you is almost guaranteed to to solicit a shoot-to-stop-threat response. Action is faster than reaction, so if you're acting like you're going to draw a gun on me, I -must- shoot first to protect my own life, etc etc.
To clarify, my post was more stating that cops are going to do what they're trained to do to go home alive and safe, and big media's gonna cash in on the copblock craze and crucify them for profit.
oh boy how exciting
Why even consider manufacturing such a case when you can clearly expect how other people react when seeing just the gun itself?

I have the compact version which I carry inside my laptop backpack during the winter.

Whenever I pull it out it amuses people to no end, from my kid (who demands to carry it for me) to security guards at the mall.
Most guys declare they're gonna totally get one too.
We're all children at heart.
That looks super duper tacky.
I agree with police tho.
I have one of those umbrella swords and people used to be fooled by it a few times a few years back. Now it's somewhat common so people don't seem to be phased by it anymore.
Also if you're wondering why I have one [sp]It's because I always like swinging umbrellas around like swords even if I'm 20 fucking years old so might as well have it look the part. When no one's looking while I'm walking around I sometimes get really into some swordsmanship skills.[/sp]
It doesn't even look like it'd be comfortable to hold and use, all issues stated above aside.

Its different. A ninja sword doesnt scare you because you intantly realise its a gimmick.
But these cases look like real guns, I would be scared.

No one seems to notice that this also makes your phone 100 times easier to steal. There's literally a handle sticking out of your pocket to grab.
Now you just get those gun apps.
can i get one that looks like a nerf grip instead
