CBO: Senate GOP health-care bill would leave 22 million more people uninsured by 2026

Senate Republicans’ bill to erase major parts of the Affordable Care Act would cause an estimated 22 million more Americans to be uninsured in the coming decade — 1 million fewer than similar legislation recently passed by the House, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
The forecast issued Monday by Congress’s nonpartisan budget scorekeepers also estimates that the Senate measure, drafted in secret mainly by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and aides, would reduce federal spending by $321 billion by 2026 — compared with $119 billion for the House’s version.
The CBO’s analysis has been awaited as a crucial piece of evidence as McConnell (Ky.) and other Republican leaders try to hurry a vote on the bill this week. But they are navigating an expanding minefield of resistance from their own party’s moderate and conservative wings, while Democrats are united against it.

They don't care. They're willing to trade American lives to lower the deficit. Shameful.
"AT LEAST ITS A MILLION FEWER!!"
:downs:
Well, they got more efficient at saving money to make room for those tax breaks the wealthy will get, but they still don't seem to have a bill that will actually give the American people what they want: More access, less cost. I really think we need single payer.
This is Wealthcare.
Republican Insurance Plan (RIP)
So if this passes, can there be a revolution perhaps? Maybe a coup? It just doesn't seem wise to let loads of people die and decay for the rich to make money. Really it'd be an long term investment with a short term cost.
In the words of Rubio: It's a small fraction of the overall population
Which makes it totally reasonable guys, why didn't we think of that before?????
I just don't get how people can defend this. There's actual human beings on this forum who will probably go "lol still better than obamacare even though its more expensive for less coverage"

What's mine is mine, cant pay higher taxes for the sake of the nation and the disadvantaged, They can buy two less iPhones and invest in shares/open gmod servers and grow rich, now they get all the healthcare benefits in the world :downs:

Raising taxes on the ultra rich is justified because it's only a small fraction of the overall population.
He just doesn't care because its poors who will be dying.
I'm pretty sure that when the House bill went from 24 to 23 million uninsured someone sarcastically said the next version would lower it to 22 million :v:
The GOP has gone full rogue. They only care about the 1-2%. They don't care about you. You are nothing to them. You are just part of the rambling mass of misinformed peasants that these kind of people have viewed us as for the past thousands of years. If you thought Feudalism stopped, or other ways for the Rich to exploit the poor, you're dead wrong. We thought we stopped them back in the late 1800s, but nope. They've come full swinging with the GOP, and now they own the government and us. We are at the mercy of this small minority, and will exploit us in the name of Money.
Fuck the GOP...

You know what else is a small fraction? The $800 Billion in medicaid cuts paying off a trillion dollar tax break for the super wealthy

Oh yeah, it's only 7% of the population. We can afford fucking over that many people all at once!

And yet it's the same general metric they use to justify controlling where people can and can't use a public restroom, as well as who can and can't enter the country from certain regions.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy, that sounds like a hell of a lot of wealth to trickle down! I can't wait!
and theyll still pass it
I hope this means the vote will fail on the senate floor. Leaving that many people uninsured was one of the big reasons the house bill didn't go to the senate for a vote.
Susan Collins just became the 6th GOP Senator to come out against the bill, the bill has now gone from 'dead' to 'fucking dead'

Thank Christ. All those phone calls and emails paid off.
I am so fucking relieved right now.

Don't be surprised if at least a few people decide to do more than just lay down and suffer/die. This is how you create extremists.
I have no doubt that the increasing divide between american citizens will cause a great increase in extremism, which will only fuel the extremist fire on both sides.
It's a never ending cycle, because people are too stubborn, dumb, or both.
I mean, I'd been saying it for a long time beforehand: you can't have this much polarization and divisiveness being built up over this many decades... and not expect it to explode into something awful eventually. It's inevitable.
One side has been disproportionately malignant compared to the other though, that needs to be remembered. I don't blame leftist extremists one bit given recent events.

I just hope the next version isn't just a hydra version of this, to be followed by untold slight reiterations like their attempts to repeal Obamacare.

There sure is a lot of "I know you are but what am I" going on at the white house.

Fake news, the CBO results are off because of Republican governors not expanding Medicaid in their states. Additionally, the numbers of people enrolled in the marketplace is actually closer to 13 million.
The point of the tweet isn't to make it seem like their bill will cover more people (everyone knows it won't), it's to undercut the CBO, which, though thoroughly non-partisan and generally respected by everyone in Washington, has been a thorn in the Republican's side since Regan.
Would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for that meddling CBO and their damn calculators
And now, let's switch over to our resident piece of shit, Paul Ryan.
With regard to the CBO’s evaluation, Ryan said, “what they’re basically saying at the CBO is if you’re not going to force people to buy Obamacare, if you’re not going to force people to buy something that they don’t want, they won’t buy it.”
“So it’s not that people are getting pushed off a plan,” he continued. “It’s that people will choose not to buy something they don’t like or want.”
They chose, given the choices they have had of "no healthcare" or "still no healthcare".
