Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
Some interesting stuff going on but a lot of the time many of the drums weren't fitting the ambient sound very well... unless that's what you were going for. Like the drum beat was kind of upbeat, while the ambient was quite dark

The intro drumming is cool, the 'sweeping' puts me off balance though which I don't think is a good thing, the sound that clicks is nice though and it works a lot better with the sweeping when that one keeps you on track. So far it sounds pretty wild, the only thing that is constant is the drumming, the rest of the things thrown in sounds like you didn't really have any thought behind it beyond it sounding good (which it does). Some organizing of your ideas and have a consistent theme could do wonders for this, oh and it's way too short, probably because of the previous statement of no organizing.
Thanks gnoob and Tracy for your detailed comments. I first concentrated exclusively on the drum/click track, and then added the ambient sounds and sweeping "orchestral" type lead afterwards, maybe doing things in that order wasn't ideal since it is telling how gnoob caught on to that divide.
I'll need to rethink this one and, as Tracy said,
consider a structure that can support the wild nature of the song.
The idea behind the song is that a submarine is in jeopardy. It's being hit by missiles, there is a mutiny in progress, and it is starting to sink. I even made a "submarinelog" file. So if you go back, and listen to the track again while following the log below, you can see what event each part of the song is attempting to convey.
Here is the log:
SUBMARINE LOG
00:13 distress signals/morse code/ mutiny
00:20 torpedoes hiting submarine/water rushing in
00:34 running around in sinking submarine, machine gun fire, overthrow in progress
00:51 captain's office takeover
01:07 submarine sinking
Although I've got the scene all thought out,
if the track sounds unstructured and a map is required to navigate it,
then that means I have more work to do :).
Thanks guys, I'll update this thread again when I have an new version of the track to share.
