Obama vows action against Russia over election hacks
US President Barack Obama has vowed to take action against Russia for its alleged interference in the US presidential election campaign.
"We need to take action and we will," the president told NPR.
Russia stands accused by the US of hacking the emails of the Democratic Party and a key Hillary Clinton aide, which the Kremlin strongly denies.
Republican president-elect Donald Trump has also dismissed the claim as "ridiculous" and politically motivated.
The intelligence agencies say they have overwhelming evidence that Russian hackers linked to the Kremlin were behind the hacks.
And on Thursday, a White House spokesman said President Vladimir Putin was involved in the cyber-attacks.
Hours later, Mr Obama said: "I think there's no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact on the integrity of our elections, that we need to take action and we will, at a time and a place of our own choosing.
"Some of it may be explicit and publicised. Some of it may not be.
"Mr Putin is well aware of my feelings about this, because I spoke to him directly about it."
Oh boy I wonder how that conversation went.
hack putin's email and hack RT to post it.
or don't because that probably will start a war i guess
And people were afraid of what Trump was going to do. What is Obama trying to do? Start a War with Russia himself?

Start WW3, since it looks like Clinton won't get the chance to.
No really, though, we have the FBI and numerous other intelligence agencies saying that there's no indication that the Russians are behind this. Why are we throwing around accusations before we can even come to a solid conclusion?
Not to mention, interestingly enough, it's moderately amusing how 'the most transparent president in history' is attacking the leakers instead of the material of the leaks. For shame.

That wouldn't turn out well for anyone involved so probably not.

Tell that to Russia when we annex them to the great U.S. of A.
I'm half expecting this kind of rhetoric to increase after trump still gets 270+ of his votes on Monday.

I agree with everything here and I'm on your side, but I don't think it is totally wrong for Obama to go after "leakers" here. Whoever hacked the emails didn't just leak them, they illegally hacked and stole them.
You'd still need 36+ faithless electors to change the vote, which I very much doubt.
Honestly Jeb bush seems more likely to become the president than Hillary at this point, and that would be quite the circus.

See tudd? This is the kind of thing the topic you made leads to. This is why you don't make topics like that.

They were also illegally stored on an unsecured non-government audited server. It's hard to blame someone for picking up a dollar that someone else throws on the street, anyone could've stolen her emails from that server.

I thought this was about Podesta being hacked not Clinton?
That one's even funnier, ANYONE could've sent him phishing emails, all it took was him entering the password at the wrong site, which is supposedly what happened.

They didn't hack Hillary's emails though, they hacked the DNC's.

I'm talking about the Podesta and DNC hacks.

one thing i really don't like in SH since the election cropped up is the vitriol users carry for other users, which they seem to pintpoint and parade around in any thread they can.
it seems any given trump thread (of which comprise half of page 1 on any given day) will have multiple people calling out other users that haven't even posted in the thread yet. it's completely bizarre.

Not that I support doing it myself, but they're doing it because the person being brought to attention never comes in these types or threads but will happily post in something they can go "See? Nothing bad here". It's a cycle.
Can't wait for this moron to get far away from the White House. Assange came out and said his sources weren't the Russian government. Lets just further divide the US and Russia on the way out, good job jackass.

I really don't feel bad considering there is still a debate going on if the Russians did it or not.

Maybe I agree with what people are saying in threads like the candidate choices.

He isn't wrong though. Good job contributing nothing of merit to the conversation.

I'm honestly much more inclined to believe the CIA, white house officials, and the standing POTUS than Assange.

I mean to be fair, what would you expect them to do? If they pop into these threads they would just get dogpiled by everyone going "GOTCHA", and that's hardly a productive discussion or use of their time
I'm certainly not on the trumpsters side of the argument, but you have to admit that the anti-trump crowd around here hasn't always been particularly mature about trump supporters coming out and saying "I dont agree with everything he says".

For sure. I've been guilty of it myself which is shameful, but I can see it on both sides. It's cherry picking on both ends

it's really not this.
it's that there's evidence that the RNC was additionally hacked by the same group and no information was shared from those leaks; indicating that the party responsible had specific intent to tip the scales in one direction.
this is a serious affront by a foreign power.
they hacked our election
it's time to hack theirs!
Putin will find his opposition winning 108% of the vote.
What a paranoid asshole.
