A US drone strike has killed more than 150 al-Shabab militants in Somalia, the Pentagon says.
Spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said the strike hit a training camp where a "large-scale" attack was being planned.
"We know they were going to be departing the camp and they posed an imminent threat to US and [African Union] forces," Captain Davis said.
"Initial assessments are that more than 150 terrorist fighters were eliminated," he added.
Mr Davis said the strike, on Saturday, targeted a camp about 120 miles (195km) north of the capital, Mogadishu.
The camp had been under surveillance for some time, according to Mr Davis.
"There was a sense that the operational phase was about to happen," he said.
Holy shit
Well another camp bites the dust

That's 'USDF' for "We guess that there may have been a large number of people at this training facility, so how about we saw 150?"
That's going to be one hell of a clean up

Ahahah, I know.

Imagine the sight of something like this, it's surreal.
Damn, all these drone strikes almost feels like we're cheating at war.

Hey man you know the saying

No such thing as cheating when the other guy's plan involves being as sneaky as possible about murdering you.
How on earth does a hellfire take out so many
Surely there must be some high explosives or shit
Because hellfire doesn't have a particularly large warhead. Unless multiple strikes

Thermobaric warhead in some hellfire variants. They produce a fairly sizable explosion.

It was a graduation ceremony, they were standing in formation.
Those not killed by the explosive would have been wounded or killed by shrapnel.

Well our intelligence has gotten quite a bit better since then, I mean we can track how many people went in the compound and drones have probably been watching this place for months

Probably a few helfires, they were taking out an entire camp

They can also carry gbu12s, or 38s (500lbs) along with hellfires. (If it was an MQ-9 that did it)

Not large enough to kill that many, even with max loadout. They would be scattered after the first hit.

If ISIL had DARPA, they would be doing that to us ten times more

Has that been confirmed? If I was running the op, I'd have an agent sneak a mobile phone with a bunch of Fappening pics and vids on it into the camp. Then when all those guys crowd around to look- BOOM!
That's a lot of martyrs...

What the heck is 'USDF' ?

United States Defence Force.
United States Defence Force.
Did you make that up?
You'd think they'd be more likely to spread out with all these drones out and about.
Having bases dense with manpower is just asking to get blown.
Did you make that up?
There's no such thing as an United States Defence Force, but Bradyns is from Australia, which has an Australian Defence Force that appears to be their equivalent of the United States Department of Defense.
That's my guess, anyway.
Hopefully the video is declassified.

I was kinda thinking... it's pretty strange. Who is going to clean up that mess?
Will it just be like that for years to come?

Blood makes the grass grow!
I'm wondering if this is even true. Thanks John Oliver.

They'll be reclaimed by nature pretty fast

The structures or whatever once was there, who'll clean that up.
Even in remote desolate areas like the one in question, I still imagine there's some organisation or something that will eventually collect whatever bodyparts remain.
