So I was playing a bit of GMod, listening to a bit of music, browsing the web, the normal Sunday afternoon stuff. Then this happened:

I could tell it was a GPU problem as the cursor still displayed fine and behind all the glitchy shit, everything was working as it should.
As far as I can tell, there was nothing out of the ordinary that would have caused this. I was just doing the kind of stuff I usually do on my PC.
After it happened, I quickly nabbed the screenshot then shut down. I then took the side panel off my case, cleaned out the little dust there was, then hooked it back up and restarted. For now, it seems to be okay, but I'd like to know what caused it so I can prevent it from happening in future.
My specs are as follows:
HP Pavilion s3842uk
AMD Phenom 8750 Tri-core (2.4GHz)
nVidia Geforce GT120 w/ 2GB graphics memory
4GB RAM
1820x1024 Generic PnP Monitor
1600x900 HP 2009 LCD Monitor
Thanks in advance.
Could be overheating. Check your temps with a program like MSI afterburner and regulate your fan speed accordingly.
Every single time I've seen a pattern like that the cause was overheating. Though most of the times after displaying that cards were pretty much dead already so you were lucky.
If you want to test it out, watch your gpu control panel (it should have the temperature listed somewhere) while running ATITool or something like that.
check if there is loads of dust on it, if it is clean it. might solve the problem.
