I've got a laptop that has a standalone dollar key which is acting as though it's pressed constantly even though the key is not being pressed. I've tried detaching and re-seating the keyboard to the laptop. Would this be a keyboard connector/controller issue or would a new keyboard fix the issue?
All other keyboard inputs won't work because the $ key is being spammed however only a certain number of key presses can be registered every so often but only from certain keys (e.g. k and l)

Theres your problem. The key is depressed. Did you mean 'not pressed'? Depressed means you are pressing it.
Anyway,
What happens when you press it? If it stops, I think you may be able to invert it with software

Open the laptop up, and disconnect the keyboard and reseat the cable. Post results.

I've tried re-seating the cable but there is still no change.
Depressed means that it's being pressed. Change the word depressed to "not being pressed".
Would a new keyboard fix the problem or is it likely to be the keyboard controller?
