Google Music Timeline "shows genres of music waxing and waning, based on how many Google Play Music users have an artist or album in their music library, and other data (such as album release dates). Each stripe on the graph represents a genre; the thickness of the stripe tells you roughly the popularity of music released in a given year in that genre."
Huh thought country selection would be popular after ray charels sang i can't stop loving you.
techno is ded :c
It's quite ironic how large "alternative" is.
Children of Bodom is listed under Black/Death Metal? Am I missing something?
Children of Bodom is listed under Black/Death Metal? Am I missing something?
metal subgenres are a real bitch to deal with
It's quite ironic how large "alternative" is.
Something tells me it is being used as another word for "don't know"
metal subgenres are a real bitch to deal with
i would just say 'stupid' (not metal exclusively i think most sub genres are totally unneeded. instead of trying to set your music apart from the ocean of piss you're whizzing in by categorizing it slightly differently how about letting the actual music that you play part the blond sparkling sea, opening the path for your fans to the merch tent. (some nerd please explain to me how lumping in screamo with grindcore is a crime against humanity)) i like that folk stays relatively consistent, there are always dudes who have been sitting on their porch somewhere playing a guitar for the past ten years coming out of the woodwork
Most people just call alternative, indie because how are you suppose to describe it?
Children of Bodom is listed under Black/Death Metal? Am I missing something?
They are melodic death metal, so I don't really see the problem? Metal has a billion different subgenres, you should expect them to round off when doing studies like this.
They are melodic death metal, so I don't really see the problem?
metal subgenres are a real bitch to deal with
I couldn't find any info on my favorite genre. Doom funeral symphonic industrial gothic metal.
I couldn't find any info on my favorite genre. Doom funeral symphonic industrial gothic metal.
uhh, excuse me? i think you mean doom funeral symphonic industrial neo-gothic metal?
but what are people going to use to tell them apart from other bands, other than their name, albums, and music??
There's nothing wrong with approximate descriptive categories. It is the elitism that is annoying. Some people might not be into the whole (often but not always) satanic imagery or the actual music that is black metal, then it is useful for them to know what to avoid and how to easier find their personal preference when scouting for new bands.
music never fell, couldn't care about the consensus crap [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] also what is "goapel"
music never fell, couldn't care about the consensus crap [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] also what is "goapel"
gospel?
gospel?
it clearly says chriatian goapel, must be new :)

Holy fuck jazz was huge
It's not working for me. The chrome inspector says the data request is returning a 500 error. Happening to anyone else?
Holy fuck jazz was huge
There was a lot less music back then and less methods of spreading it. Makes sense. Strange how the 'big ones' are fairly equal right now.
Just as I was writing on essay on oral traditions, this will come in really handy!
it clearly says chriatian goapel, must be new :)
If you look behind it it says christian gospel, the black font is obviously a mis-spelling.

The thing doesn't even load for me on Chrome. Nor does it on any browser. It just says "Click here to explore bla-bla" and when I click, it's just stays gray.
that is the album art for my favorite goapel group's first album: qwasd long live goapel
Uhm they're post-goapel you idiot
